~ Description from Ritual of the Night |
Wolfman is an enemy in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. In Classic Mode, an extra-powerful Wolfman, accompanied by an equally strong Simian, serve as the bosses for the forth stage.
Description[]
A large lycanthrope that jumps at the player and also defends himself with his claws. He is encountered in the outside areas of the Towers of Twin Dragons. While certainly looking menacing at first glance, his repertoire of attacks is limited. He'll either swipe with one of his claws at the player, or jump forward and perform a double swipe. When attacked, he'll use his arms to protect himself and become completely impervious to damage. He'll remain in this state as long as he's receiving attacks, so, the player needs to stop attacking him for a moment until he lets his guard down again.
He drops the Beast Guardian Shard, which summons an ethereal Wolfman that replicates the protective stance of the monster, acting as a shield for Miriam (although not as versatile as the Directed Shield). He also drops some valuable items, like Wool, which can be used to craft the Polonaise armor which raises INT; and also the Wolf Hood, which increases STR.
In Classic Mode, a Wolfman is fought as a boss at the end of Stage 4. He attacks by periodically charging at the player to swipe at them with his claws and then backing away in an attempt to avoid retaliatory hits. He is accompanied by a Simian that jumps around the arena and fires projectiles at the player; the Simian is invincible, so the player only needs to defeat the Wolfman in order to win the battle.

Trivia[]
- While lycanthropes are frequently alluded creatures in classic Gothic horror media, the inclusion of this enemy in the game is possibly partially inspired by the Wolf Man/Werewolf from the Castlevania franchise. His role as a boss in Classic Mode mirrors that of Frankenstein's Monster in the first Castlevania.
