| ~ In-game description |
The Water Horse Hoof is a material in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
About two thirds through the game, while the player is exploring the western half of the expansive Forbidden Underground Waterway, they can battle the local Glashtyns underwater. They can drop the Amphibian Speed passive shard, which only starts applying its primary effect of lifting the slowing effect of the surrounding water on Miriam's speed while she has the later skill shard Deep Sinker active. However, it has a secondary effect of providing passive HP recovery while underwater, which increases as ranks are applied to it and can apply even if Deep Sinker has not been earned yet in the Hidden Desert. All eight ranks each require one Water Horse Mane, which the Glashtyn itself drops about twice as often as the Water Horse Hoof, and ranks 5, 6, and 7 are reached by additionally devoting a total of three Water Horse Hooves. Once two Aquatic Filets are used to progress through the final two ranks, Amphibian Speed's HP regeneration will be maxed out, and the skill shard clone of it will be unlocked so that both this regenerating effect and the removal of underwater sluggishness will be present regardless of your equipped passive shard.
Despite the Water Horse Hoof being twice as likely to drop from a Glashtyn as the Water Horse Mane, its only other function is to grant the final duration-increasing ranks of the early-game Cerulean Splash conjure shard, with other enemies' dropped Aquatic Blood being the other required ingredient. If you get a fair stockpile of hooves while farming the Glashtyn for its exceedingly useful Ayamur drop, you can safely sell off most of them for 295G each.
Availability[]
Only one enemy drops Water Horse Hooves: the Glashtyn, which have a 10% chance to drop it on defeat. They are found solely in the Forbidden Underground Waterway; one can be found outside the Waterway's rightmost teleporter.
Usage[]
Like almost all materials, Water Horse Hooves are only useful for enhancing Shards via Johannes' Alchemy menu in Arvantville.
Water Horse Hooves can be used to enhance the following Shards:
- Cerulean Splash Ranks 8, 9 (x1 Water Horse Hoof, x1 Aquatic Blood)
- Amphibian Speed Ranks 5, 6, 7 (x1 Water Horse Hoof, x1 Water Horse Mane)
Water Horse Hooves are not used in any crafting recipes. It takes at least 5 Water Horse Hooves to enhance everything in the game, with all five being base ingredients.
