A simple dish consisting of sea urchin on cooked rice. Delectable.

Uni Rice Bowl is a Food in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Availability[]

Uni Rice Bowl is prepared through Johannes' alchemy menu in Arvantville, requiring Rice ×3, Sea Urchin ×2, and Soy Sauce ×1. Rice is gotten in sets of 10 by growing Rice Seeds, while Sea Urchin is dropped by the Dullahammer (8%) in the game's earliest stages. On the other hand, Soy Sauce is ostensibly exclusive to blue chests that appear in the Oriental Sorcery Lab, making Uni Rice Bowl one of many endgame-level meals that supposedly can only be unlocked near the end of the game by collecting lots of Soy Sauce.

Once one Uni Rice Bowl has been prepared, duplicates of it can be bought for 1,200G.

Most players will never feel the need to bother with the above because three Uni Rice Bowls are awarded for free by Lindsay's early quest, "Avenge the death of Rosaly!", which requires slaying three Dullahammers.

Usage[]

Uni Rice Bowl is a food consumable restoring 300 HP whenever used and giving a permanent bonus of +30 HP and +2 INT when first eaten. It is 20% more restorative and expensive than the High Potion, while avoiding the 5-carry cap of the High Potion itself. Uni Rice Bowl is also required for Susie's sixteenth quest, "Sea Urchin", and a Lethality Ring is the reward.

Because of how many recipes both Rice (which takes time to grow) and Soy Sauce (which requires repeat trips through the Oriental Sorcery Lab to collect from blue chests) are a part of, Uni Rice Bowls are one of few completed meals worth buying and then Dismantling for Alkahest ×9 (which can be farmed from Amy enemies in the Hidden Desert). If you do not necessarily need to refill your Rice stockpiles that fast through this trick, buying the much cheaper Egg on Rice will still give you Rice ×1 and Soy Sauce ×1 for your Alkahests (plus Egg ×1). If you only need Soy Sauces, however, the expensive Sukiyaki dish dismantles into two Soy Sauces at a time.

Early Soy Sauce trick[]

The fact a set of three Uni Rice Bowls are given to you for free by completing one of Lindsay's earliest quests allows for an expensive but powerful method of circumventing some of the game's intended ingredient-gathering order. First of all, it allows you to add the meal's +30 HP and +2 INT bonuses without even having to enter the castle yet, let alone wait until late in the game to gather its ingredients. Likewise, you can keep a second rice bowl in your inventory for Susie's late Lethality Ring quest mentioned above, saving time and/or money. Therefore, you do not have to spare two Soy Sauces on two Uni Rice Bowls' accounts once you get to the Oriental Sorcery Lab and start collecting Soy Sauce bottles from the blue chests.

Perhaps most significantly, you can Dismantle your third free Uni Rice Bowl (using Alkahest ×9 farmed from weaker Ghost enemies such as the one in Galleon Minerva) to get yourself a Soy Sauce before, in theory, even setting foot into the castle (though the Ghosts above the blood fountain chamber in the Entrance zone are easier to farm). From there, you can either re-prepare the Uni Rice Bowl using the broken-up ingredients to permanently add that meal to Dominique's shop or craft the Egg on Rice to add that much cheaper food to the shop (and add +20 HP and +1 MND bonuses to your profile once you eat that for the first time). Neither of these meals require Recipe Books. As you play through the game, you can continue to farm Alkahests and break down either Uni Rice Bowls or Egg on Rice meals bought from the store for more early Soy Sauces, which become involved in more "late-game recipes gotten early" as you unlock them with recipe books.
