The Underground Sorcery Lab is a location in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Progression[]
Once the Bridge of Evil has been passed roughly halfway through the game, the player gains access to this short stand-alone zone. You will quickly fight the Bathin boss, which rewards you with the Reflector Ray shard that expands the explorable grounds of the castle with two new routes: the rest of Livre Ex Machina and the connected "pinnacle" zone Hall of Termination, and the upper reaches of Dian Cécht Cathedral. Past the boss chamber is a warp room.
The 2x2 room just east of the warp point, right before the boss room, has a room off to the upper right that might seem at first to be beyond the reach of the Reflector Ray — but it is possible to press Jump the moment Miriam reappears at the end of her beam to get her to "double jump" and just barely reach the wooden flooring. This gets you to a chest with the Damascus Equipment/R, and a breakable wall behind that contains an HP Max Up and a Shortcut shard stand.
The Blue Chests in this zone are the sole source of Black Pepper, which is involved in a good amount of useful recipes.

Other modes[]
Zangetsu, Bloodless and Aurora all reach this area by passing the Bridge of Evil. Unlike Miriam however, they do not need a Passplate to take the train, so they can access the Underground Sorcery Lab considerably earlier.
Bloodless Mode[]
This area is mostly empty save for enemies. The only Blood Shard present is the powerful Scarlet Cyclone attack, which is found near the warp room.
Aurora Mode[]
This is an optional area, even on the path to the true ending. The only things of interest are Bathin, whose defeat makes the Light Ray increase in grade, and a Shard stand for Igniculus in the same hidden room where Miriam found the Shortcut shard.

- ↑ After defeating the boss of this stage, Bathin, and obtaining his shard, Reflector Ray, the player needs to return to the Dian Cécht Cathedral to explore the rest of that stage and continue progressing through the game (the Dian Cécht Cathedral can also be explored right after obtaining the Double Jump shard and jump-kicking some strategically positioned candles, but the former is the intended standard way).
