The Umbrella Toss is an attack used by Bloodless in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Depending on the mode, it is either a part of her standard equipment or acquired as a Blood Shard.
Description[]
Bloodless forms a small umbrella in addition to her mainstay one and throws it forward. It then flies independently as a projectile, but its behavior differs depending on the game mode.
When Bloodless is being fought as a boss, she typically throws two of these umbrellas at a time. They float up towards the ceiling, unfold, and then fly freely around the area. The player can knock the umbrellas around through attacks but has no way to destroy them; they eventually disappear on their own before Bloodless tosses a new pair. They mostly serve as damaging nuisances, but they also have the useful function of shielding the player from Blood Rain. The umbrellas behave like this when she is being played in Boss Revenge Mode as well, including the limit where only up to two can be present at a time.
When Bloodless is being played in Bloodless Mode specifically, the umbrellas float up and unfold before descending back to Bloodless's altitude and flying straight forward at a high speed. They pass through enemies as well as solid surfaces, and Bloodless can throw them while moving. These factors and their relatively low MP cost make them a versatile attack in many situations. The same number limitation applies for them as in Boss Revenge Mode, however.
Availability[]
In Bloodless Mode in Ritual of the Night, the Umbrella Toss is not initially available as a move but must be acquired from a Blood Shard in a side room in the upper reaches of the Livre Ex Machina.
Trivia[]
- Bloodless does not use the Umbrella Toss attack during her battle in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. Her Tri-Parasols likewise fly independently, but they deal no damage and are merely useful to the player by helping them reach Bloodless and shielding them from her Bloody Rain.
