Bloodstained Wiki

A light, yet sturdy feather.

The Thunderbird Plume is a Material in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Description[]

While farming the Celaenos near the upper-right Save Room of the Towers of Twin Dragons for their various useful drops, each kill will net you an 8% base chance to acqure a Thunderbird Plume.

There is virtually no reason to consider using these to craft the two items they are materials for. The first, a Feather Crown, is essentially given to you for free at a much earlier stage in the game by defeating Andrealphus and using its newly awarded Double Jump to reach a green chest in the same room. The second, a Feather Robe, is the reward for fulfilling Susie Quinn's ninth quest, which requires using a Dragon Egg dropped by the Dragon in Livre Ex Machina to prepare a Strawberry Crepe.

On the other hand, you will want three Thunderbird Plumes for the sake of the immensely useful Optimizer passive shard dropped by the Celaeno's Ocypete cousin in the upper reaches of Dian Cécht Cathedral. This shard gives an ATK boost that improves with each Rank you devote a material to (rather than each Grade you farm from getting the shard itself to drop from the enemy, unlike shards with more specific effects like Greatsword Expertise). Having three Thunderbird Plumes allows you to immediately elevate its Rank to 4, and three Flight Feathers (also dropped by the Ocypete) then allows you to immediately elevate its Rank to 7. Once you reach Oriental Sorcery Lab late in the game, the Bovine Plumes dropped by the Haagenti allow you to top off the shard at Rank 9, creating its Skill Shard equivalent and heavily improving all of your weapon attacks separately from what you might have equipped in your Passive Shard slot.
