Daisuke Fukuda (福田 大典 Fukuda Daisuke ) (born March 18, 1967), better known by his stage name Taiten Kusunoki (楠 大典 Kusunoki Taiten ) (sometimes spelt Taitem Kusunoki), is a Japanese actor and voice actor from Tokyo who is currently affiliated with Amuleto. He is best known for dubbing roles for Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, and many other popular international actors.
He voiced Alfred in the Japanese version of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.[1]
Career[]
Daisuke Fukuda graduated from Kokushikan High School. After working at Miki Productions, he joined Amuse.
After being scouted and entering the industry, he mainly worked in television dramas and stage plays, but when Kanichi Kurita, who was in the same agency at the time, took over the role of Lupin III, he begged to be allowed to appear as well, and made his voice acting debut in Lupin III: The Pursuit of Harimao's Treasure!!
In 2022, at the 16th Seiyū Awards, he won the Foreign Film/Drama Award in recognition of his achievements in foreign film dubbing and foreign TV dramas from that era.
He played the role of Optimus Prime in four different series of the Transformers franchise. After failing the audition for the lead role of Fire Convoy in Car Robot (he was the last to be selected along with Satoshi Hashimoto, who was given the role), he was offered the same lead role in Galaxy Force.
He has done voice-over work for many international celebrities, including Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Jamie Foxx, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, John Cena, and Idris Elba. In particular, he is currently the fixed voice actor for most of Dwayne's works, and by 2023, he has become so well-known that he is said to be "familiar with Dwayne's dubbing". Regarding Dwayne's acting, Kusunoki expressed his respect, saying: "Even from his first work, I can see that he is an amazing actor who can play a variety of roles, from comedy to serious roles, and his wide range of acting plans is a great learning experience for me as an actor."
Following the departure of Toru Ohira, the exclusive voice actor for the Japanese version of Darth Vader in the Star Wars series, due to poor health, Kusunoki took over the role from Star Wars: Rebels season 2 and onward. After Ohira passed away on April 12, 2016, Kusunoki became the official exclusive voice actor for Darth Vader, and has played the role in almost all media productions since then.
