Foods[]
Food dishes are unique craftable items that offer a first-time permanent stat bonus when consumed. To "prepare" them, you will need food materials. All meals restore exactly 25% as much HP as their base prices in the shop (putting them on the same economic and restorative curve as the Potion and High Potion), and all drinks restore exactly 30% as much MP as their base supply post values. All foods and drinks can also stock up to 99.

The above ordering presumes that you are using the "early Soy Sauce trick" from the early-rewarded Uni Rice Bowls to get some Soy Sauce-based meals earlier because of how useful it is in giving Miriam significant extra power for much of the game's play time. (Otherwise, underneath "Find Miso in blue chests in Oriental Sorcery Lab" in the list would be a "Find Soy Sauce in blue chests" section that includes the meals Egg on Rice, Ginger Pork, Sukiyaki, Simmered Forneus, and Fish Hot Pot.) However, there are some other "tricks" to get certain meals earlier than where they are listed:
- The Pork Cutlet, which otherwise requires Meat Dish/R to be collected with the help of Double Jump, can drop directly from the early Plume Parma enemy at a very rare 1% base chance.
- It is possible to reach Curry Dish/R and the nearby Curry Powder chest across the top gap of the waterfall room in Forbidden Underground Waterway without needing the Double Jump ability; you can ride the Chair Mimic near the bottom behind the waterfall all the way to the upper left part of the area and mash directional inputs to drop yourself off at the right moment. This allows for the HP-boosting Curry & Rice and Pork Curry meals to be prepared even before the Andrealphus boss that awards the Double Jump shard.
- The Chocolate Cake, awarded by Abigail's fourth quest, can be dismantled for Dragon Egg and Heavy Cream for a similar "sequence-breaking trick" as the Uni Rice Bowl's ability to be dismantled for Soy Sauce. Presuming you are willing to supply all the Alkahests and money necessary, you can use early Dragon Eggs to prepare each of the following meals before gaining access to the post-Reflector Ray portion of Livre Ex Machina:
- Egg Soufflé (from start)
- Scrambled Eggs (once you get Moco Oil to drop)
- Flan (once you get Beast Milk to drop)
- Lemon Cream Pie (once you find Cookies/R in early Livre Ex Machina)
- Pasta Carbonara (once you find Pasta Dish/R in post-Double Jump Towers of Twin Dragons)
- Chocolate Crepe and Strawberry Crepe (once you find Sweets/R in the same screen)
- As an extension to the above trick, the Heavy Cream gotten from dismantling a Chocolate Cake can itself be dismantled to get yourself Beast Milk somewhat earlier than when you first encounter Zagans in the latter portion of the Garden of Silence. This is usually not considered a worthwhile sequence break because the Zagan that drops Beast Milk is reached roughly a quarter into the game.
- The lone Forneus swimming at the very upper-left end of Forbidden Underground Waterway can be slain very early in the game by heading out the Arvantville zone's lower-right exit, before even entering the castle itself. It is possible to coax it into the enclosed, half-submerged area to its upper right so that you can reach any Forneus Filet it drops onto the rocky surface immediately below it. This allows you to cook the following dishes before they first become "normally available" as of the western, post-Blood Steal portions of Forbidden Underground Waterway, when Forneus become easy to reach and farm with Aqua Stream:
- Seafood Curry (requires Double Jump to collect Curry Dish/R; can be even earlier if you use the Chair Mimic trick mentioned above to reach Curry Dish/R)
- Simmered Forneus (requires Double Jump to collect Fish Dish/R, and also requires the early Soy Sauce trick)
- Fried Fish (requires Double Jump to collect Fish Dish/R, and also requires dismantling a Chocolate Cake for an early Dragon Egg as mentioned above)
- Fish & Chips (simply combine one Fried Fish with three Fried Potatoes)
- Forneus Meunière (once you collect Black Pepper as of Underground Sorcery Lab)
- Forneus in Garlic (once you collect Garlic as of the post-Reflector Ray portion of Livre Ex Machina)
- The large sequence break in the campaign where you can get into the upper reaches of the Dian Cécht Cathedral with just Double Jump instead of Reflector Ray lets you collect Cake/R and the Apples dropped by Ocypete early.
- Fell Leaf is normally dropped from Giant Moco near the end of the game in the Den of Behemoths. But shortly before that, when you get Ramen/R, you can dismantle 1 Gold material into 10 Dark Matter, then dismantle one of those into a Fell Leaf. This lets you prepare Salt Ramen and Soy Ramen before fighting the second Zangetsu boss encounter in the Oriental Sorcery Lab.
