The Stygian Marsh is a location in Classic II: Dominique's Curse. It is the higher of two neighboring swamp areas, located between the Bog of Mourning to the left and the Descent to Wrath to the right.
The terrain is similar to the Bog of Mourning. Like in that area, falling into the water here will not instantly kill Dominique, but it will poison her temporarily. During the New Moon, the enemies here include Carabosses, Lance Armors, Scythe Mites, and Silver Wolfmen. The Dead Moon reduces the number of Carabosses and replaces some of the Lance Armors with Cannon Mortes.
During the Dead Moon, Dominique can also fight the Master Carpenter on the main road of this area. Upon defeat, he will relinquish an Ectoplasm and relocate to the town of Theurgia, where he will give Dominique Coins in exchange for demon Remains.
Trivia[]
- The adjective "Stygian" in this area's name likely refers to Styx, one of the rivers of the underworld in Greek mythology. The other four rivers are referenced in the names of the Lethe Cavern, Lake Acheron, the Cocytus Ridge, and Phlegethon.
