“ | Project a field that stops time. | „ |
Standstill is a Manipulative Shard in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It also appears in Classic II: Dominique's Curse, as one of the sub-weapons Dominique Baldwin can find.
Description[]
Standstill grants its wielder the power to stop time. Upon activation, a vast field will envelop the screen, marked by the sound of a ticking clock slowing down and an inverted color visual effect. While the button is held, all minor enemies (bosses are not affected except Bael) and level gimmicks on-screen will stop completely while Miriam is able to move freely. During stopped time, Miriam can attack enemies and objects at will; damage inflicted will only apply once the effect ends. Thrown objects or weapons will also freeze shortly after being thrown and will resume movement after Miriam ends the Shard's effect.
This Shard does not gain additional bonuses from Rank.
Availability[]
- Dropped by:
- Orlok Dracule (100.00%)
Enhancements[]
Rank: None.
Notes[]
- Standstill is the only Shard in the entire game that cannot be enhanced (that is, it cannot gain any Ranks).
- Unlike the rest of the bosses in the game, which are immune to it, Standstill does affect Bael, the final boss of the main game, making most of his fight trivial and easily winnable without the player taking any damage.
Trivia[]
- The visual and audio cues associated with the Standstill shard are a reference to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, in which DIO's stand, The World, prominently features very similar visual and audio effects in its ability to stop time in the anime adaptation of the series' third part, Stardust Crusaders.
- This spell is also likely based on the Time Stop spell (as well as the Stopwatch sub-weapon) from the Castlevania franchise, which works almost the same way.
