Spear Expertise is a Passive Shard in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
At Rank 9, its passive effect is active even when the shard is not equipped. However, equipping the shard will still increase Spear damage by about 14 (dependent on stats, weapon, and enemy resistance types).
Each Grade of Spear Expertise increases damage by about 9. At Rank 9, this damage increase by Grade is present regardless of whether the shard is equipped (so equipping the shard will not increase the effect of the Grade).

Tips on gathering materials[]
- Spear: Crafted from 1 Elm and 2 Bronze, then bought for 1,200G.
- Bronze: Bought for 338G from start. Drops from Dullahammer (12%) in Galleon Minerva. Found in blue chests in Galleon Minerva and the Entrance.
- Elm: Dropped by Cannon Morte (4%) in Galleon Minerva. Found in blue chests in Entrance.
- Partisan: Crafted from 1 Oak and 1 Steel, then bought for 4,800G. Alternatively, you can make Lance Armor drop it directly (8%) in later Livre Ex Machina and upper Dian Cécht Cathedral.
- Oak: Drops from Poltergeists (10%) that start appearing as of early Dian Cécht Cathedral; three Poltergeists in the middle of the left tower in the Towers of Twin Dragons are a convenient group to farm. Found in blue chests in later Garden of Silence and the early Towers.
- Steel: Drops from Blood Grinder Knight (5%) and Sabnock (8%) between Entrance and Garden of Silence, then drops from Buer Armor (8%) in later Garden of Silence and the early portions of Towers of Twin Dragons and Forbidden Underground Waterway. The Shovel Armor throughout the Waterway drops Steel at a 10% chance.
- Gondo-Shizunori: "Upgraded" from Honebami using 2 Mahogany, then buyable for 43,200G. One is also rewarded by Susie Quinn's eighth quest, which requires submitting an Omurice.
- Mahogany: Found in blue chests in the later Forbidden Underground Waterway, Hidden Desert, and Secret Sorcery Lab, and drops from Deathtrap (8%) in Inferno Cave and Oriental Sorcery Lab. If you are relying on using the entrance in the Hidden Desert to the Tunnels to rapidly farm a nearby blue chest for Gold, you will get loads of Mahogany on the side.
- Honebami: "Upgraded" from Morgenstern using 1 Damascus and 1 Steel, then buyable for 7,500G. One is also found during the train ride in Bridge of Evil.
- Steel: Same method as above.
- Damascus: First drops from Puppy (5%) at the west station of Bridge of Evil. Drops from Axe Outsider (12%) as early as the advanced enemy room above the "Sabnock chamber" in the Entrance, and later appears in the later portions of Livre Ex Machina and Hall of Termination. Found in blue chests in Underground Sorcery Lab and later Livre Ex Machina. Also dropped by Lance Armor (8%) in later Livre Ex Machina and upper Dian Cécht Cathedral. Each Shovel dropped by Shovel Armor (6%) dismantles into 2 Damascus using 6 Alkahests.
- Morgenstern: Crafted from 2 Elm, 2 Iron, and 1 Obsidian, then bought for 2,700G.
