Soy Sauce is a food ingredient in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Availability[]
Soy Sauce is presented as only obtainable from blue chests in the Oriental Sorcery Lab. To find one these chests, warp to the Oriental Sorcery Lab and head to the right, past all the enemies; the chest is in an enclosed space guarded by a Gusion that can be entered by a little opening (accessible via Reflector Ray, Invert or Dimension Shift). To make the blue chest refill its contents, head back to the warp room, warp to any other location, and then warp back to the Oriental Sorcery Lab; alternatively, entering the Master Carpenter's room will also refill the chest.
However, it is possible to get Soy Sauce close to the beginning of the game and retain access to it throughout the entirety of the campaign. One of Lindsay's earliest quests will reward you with three Uni Rice Bowls, one of which can be eaten right away so that you do not have to craft that to get its stat bonuses. You can spend 9 Alkahests to dismantle another Uni Rice Bowl into its component ingredients, including one Soy Sauce, which you can then use to craft either another Uni Rice Bowl or an Egg on Rice; doing so will permanently add that meal to Dominique's supply post. For the rest of the game, whenever you become capable of preparing a meal that takes a Soy Sauce as an ingredient, you can buy a duplicate of the pre-prepared soy sauce meal and dismantle it for another 9 Alkahests to add a Soy Sauce to your inventory so that you can then prepare the new meal "early".
Usage[]
Like almost all materials, Soy Sauce is only useful for preparing food via Johannes's Alchemy menu in Arvantville.
Soy Sauce is one of the materials required for crafting a large variety of strong, "late-game" meals that offer fittingly powerful bonuses, hence the value of using the Uni Rice Bowl trick to get Soy Sauces close to the start of the game:
- Soy Broth (×1 Soy Sauce, ×2 G-Bone Steak, ×1 Fey Leaf, ×1 Ginger)
- Uni Rice Bowl (×1 Soy Sauce, ×2 Sea Urchin, ×3 Rice)
- Egg on Rice (×1 Soy Sauce, ×1 Egg, ×1 Rice)
- Simmered Forneus (×1 Soy Sauce, ×1 Forneus Filet, ×1 Sugar)
- Fish Hot Pot (×1 Soy Sauce, ×1 Forneus Filet, ×1 Aquatic Filet, ×1 Consommé)
- Ginger Pork (×1 Soy Sauce, ×2 Plume Pork, ×1 Ginger, ×1 Moco Oil)
- Sukiyaki (×2 Soy Sauce, ×2 Sugar, ×4 Moco Leek, ×4 G-Bone Steak)
- Meat Hot Pot (×1 Soy Sauce, ×1 Plume Pork, ×1 Flying Beef, ×1 G-Bone Steak)
Soy Sauce is also required for crafting ingredients for the following:
- Soy Ramen (×1 Soy Broth)
Soy Sauce is not used in any Shard enhancements. It takes at least 9 Soy Sauce to craft and enhance everything in the game, with all nine being base ingredients.
