A Skill Shard (White Shard) is a type of Shard in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and its DLC Classic II: Dominique's Curse.
Description[]
Skill Shards take effect immediately upon being obtained by Miriam and Dominique. In the main game of Ritual of the Night, they can be toggled ON or OFF from the "Skills" section of the Shard equipment menu, but there is no option to deactivate them in Dominique's Curse. All Skill Shards that Miriam and Dominique currently possess count as being equipped, so there is no need to choose between them.
Skill Shards do not consume any MP when active.
In the main game of Ritual of the Night, Passive Shards that reach Rank 9 will grant the player a Skill Shard with the same effect at half their power. It is possible for a Passive Shard to stack with its Skill Shard equivalent.

Notes[]
- Skill Shards can neither be sold nor can they be disposed of in any way, meaning it is mandatory to keep them for the rest of the game.
- Due to the extended reachability options these Shards usually grant the player, most of the Skill Shards that are not the evolved form of a Passive Shard (such as High Jump, Invert and Deep Sinker) aren't carried onto New Game Plus in order to prevent the player from breaking the intended sequence of the game.
Trivia[]
- The Skill Shards act almost identically and are most likely inspired by the Ability Souls from the Castlevania series; especially the games Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow, both produced by Koji Igarashi, current producer of the Bloodstained series.
