A giant bug with an unquenchable thirst for blood.
~ Description from Ritual of the Night

The Scythe Mite is an enemy in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Description[]

The Scythe Mite is a mite-wasp hybrid demon that appears in the external areas in the west of the Towers of Twin Dragons. Its in-game description suggests it is drawn to splatters of blood released by demons Miriam slays, but testing indicates it is more a matter of making their invisible spawn triggers "overlap" with the display screen for several seconds, after they have been "out of sight" for unknown periods of time, as Miriam moves around through the upper portions of each of the two outdoors screens in the west tower.

In the lower screen, just before entering the "box room" connecting to the hallway above with the three Poltergeists, you can jump west across the elevated cogs to get to a road slanted diagonally upward and patrolled by a Wolfman. Stopping for several seconds, then moving a fair distance forward, and stopping again, and doing this as you move up and down that slanted stretch, seems to cause Scythe Mites appear from time to time; it is not uncommon for two or three to appear together when you reach the bottom edge of the slanted stretch. Wearing the Eye of Horus makes this much more reliable, to the point that standing still in the exact center of the stretch seems to guarantee that a Scythe Mite will be summoned every five seconds.

In the upper outdoor screen, as you climb up the tower, once you get past a group of four Poison Toads, there should be a Wolfman patrolling a stretch of road between two gray rocks, accompanied by more Poison Toads. Standing at the midpoint between these two rocks seems to guarantee that a Scythe Mite is summoned every five seconds, and the Eye of Horus is not needed in this case.
