The Scarlet Thrust is an attack used by Bloodless in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Depending on the mode, it is either a part of her standard equipment or acquired from Blood Shards.
Description[]
Bloodless chucks a burst of blood that flies in front of her. The attack travels in a wave pattern that skews upward before it dissipates. The attack travels through enemies and can hit large ones up to three times. Once upgraded, a stronger version of the attack can be performed at no extra MP cost by holding down the attack button; a charged Scarlet Thrust consists of two waves of blood that deal more damage and travel as a helix, making the attack wider and giving it a longer range. Bloodless can use both variants of the attack when fought as a boss.
Availability[]
In Bloodless Mode, the Scarlet Thrust is not initially available but must be acquired from either of two Blood Shards. One Scarlet Thrust Shard is in the Dian Cécht Cathedral, specifically in a bell tower populated by Lance Armors and Dullahammer Heads. The other is shortly outside the Eight Bit Overlord's room in the 8-bit Nightmare. Bloodless can acquire these in either order; the first she acquires gives her the basic attack and the second gives her the ability to charge it.
In Boss Revenge Mode, Bloodless can use the uncharged and charged forms of the Scarlet Thrust.
Trivia[]
- Bloodless has a variety of voice lines for the Scarlet Thrust, which differ between game versions:
- As a boss in early versions of the game, she said "Scarlet Cyclone!" when using the uncharged attack and "Die!" when using the charged one. The first of these lines was initially shared with the attack of that name and was said in a more aggressive tone when her HP was low.
- Later game versions added the line "Scarlet Thrust!" for the uncharged attack, which is likewise said in a more aggressive tone when low on some resource. The relevant resource is HP as a non-playable character but MP in the later added Bloodless Mode and Boss Revenge Mode. "Scarlet Cyclone!" is now only used for the Scarlet Cyclone itself, but "Die!" is still used for a charged Scarlet Thrust.
