~ Description from Ritual of the Night |
Sabnock is an enemy in the Bloodstained series. He is a powerful leonine warrior who carries a sword.
Origins[]
Sabnock is the name of one of the demons from the Ars Goetia. He is known for building towers and castles and filling them with treasure, along with filling his enemies' wounds with worms. He is most often depicted as a soldier with a head of a lion and a white horse.
Description[]
Sabnock has the physique of a large human male, with the inclusion of a lion's head and tail. He wears armor on his shoulders and upper legs. From his lower legs come clawed, human-like feet. His back and chest are exposed, revealing red marks on the body. From his head sprout a few a symmetrical, red horns. His fur is black, with an orange mane and a little blue tail tuft. The armor that he does wear is dark purple, and he wields a large, single-handed sword with purple accents.
Appearances[]
Ritual of the Night[]
The first Sabnock is encountered in the third room after entering the Entrance. He has three attacks; one of his attacks has him swing his sword and move into a roll toward the player, and the other is a jumping lunge, in which he aims his sword diagonally toward the player. The third is not a direct attack, as Sabnock will hold his sword upright for a few seconds, spawning in small areas of green gas that will poison the player on contact.
Defeating two Sabnocks is required to complete Lindsay's "Avenge the death of Lisa!" quest, which awards a Brigandine (which in turn can be given to Abigail to complete one of her own quests). He drops the useful Sword Expertise shard, a Passive Shard that increases the swinging speed of sword type weapons. He also drops Steel, a somewhat rare material during the initial parts of the game that can be used for (relatively) advanced Crafting of gear.
Classic II: Dominique's Curse[]
Sabnocks are among the "civilized" demons that live in the towns of Goetia, Theurgia, and Paulina. Dominique Baldwin can speak to them for information or advice. During the Dead Moon, Sabnocks attack her with their swords and may perform a leaping strike.
Curse of the Moon 2[]
Sabnocks and Sabnock Riders make their first appearance in Episode 2.

Dialogue[]
The following quotes are spoken by different Sabnocks in Classic II: Dominique's Curse. Red text is presented as such by the True Sight.
- Goetia
- "King Bael rules over Limbo. If you want to return home, I'm sure they would listen to your case." (followed by laughter)
- "Every town has a Temple to save your progress, and a Merchant where you can purchase supplies."
- Theurgia
- "A shard called True Sight will obfuscate falsehoods." (followed by laughter)
- The True Sight actually reveals falsehoods such as this lie about its function.
- "Every dungeon is maintained by a Groundskeeper. They patrol the grounds during the New Moon, and may exchange Remains for Coin.".
- Paulina
- "Shards will certainly increase your power... but is that enough to escape Limbo?"
- "A once-proud civilization was swallowed by the ocean. The anguish of its fallen dragged it to Limbo, at a place called Megiddo."
