Robert is a playable character in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2.
History[]
Robert is a former soldier who fought alongside Zangetsu in his battle against demons. His hatred for demons began when he came home to his wife, only to witness an unspecified demon kill her. He also holds a grudge against the Church, which is why he distrusts Dominique Baldwin upon their first meeting.
Appearance and personality[]
Robert is very distrusting of alchemists and the Church, to the point where even with Zangetsu's reassurance, he views Dominique Baldwin and Hachi as threats. However, upon witnessing Dominique risking her life for the rest of the group, his loyalty to both becomes unwavering.
Powers and abilities[]
- Musket: A long range shot from Robert's gun, and his main method of attack. While it does allow Robert to hit from a safe distance, the slow attack speed leaves him vulnerable and thus requires careful positioning.
- Prone/Crawl: In addition to being able to enter spaces that otherwise are only accessible to Miriam, his low posture allows him to avoid attacks no other characters can. Robert can attack from this position as well, which can hit small enemies or hit below shields.
- Wall Kick: When holding toward a wall, Robert can stick to the wall and slowly slide down. While in this position, he can jump off the wall, which can be performed consecutively at two adjacent walls. Can be used in combination with his Drake Cannon or Hachi's Steam Hover.
- Partisan: One of Robert's sub-weapons. Throws two partisans diagonally upward, and is capable of piercing enemies and walls.
- Hand Grenade: One of Robert's sub-weapons. While standing or jumping, Robert will toss the grenade in an arc, and this grenade bounces off of the ground and walls until enough time passes or it makes contact with a target. While prone, the grenade will be rolled along the ground instead, with the detonation condition being the same as before.
- Drake Cannon: One of Robert's sub-weapons. Fires a powerful short-range energy blast from a dragon-shaped cannon. When used in mid-air, the recoil pushes Robert backward and slightly upward. This can be dangerous when used recklessly, but strategic use can allow Robert to reach areas he otherwise can't.
- Rapid Scarf: One of Robert's sub-weapons. Similar to Gebel's Immortal Metamorphosis, Weapon Points are drained over time instead of consumption per use, and will stop when WP reaches 0 or the sub-weapon button is pressed again. While active, Robert is enveloped in a blue aura, drastically increasing his attack speed.

Trivia[]
- One of Robert's early designs was supposed to be the human form of Bathin, a boss from the previous Curse of the Moon and Ritual of the Night.[1]
- Robert's wall jump ability was inherited from an earlier concept of a ninja being one of the playable characters in Curse of the Moon 2.[2]
- Robert's agility, range, crouch stance and other qualities appear to be a reference Grant Danasty in Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse.
- Robert is a bald former soldier and may also be a reference to Hammer in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, who was originally planned to be Grant's counterpart in Julius Mode but was abandoned.
