~ Description from Ritual of the Night |
The Poltergeist is an enemy in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and minibosses in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon.
Description[]
A possessed portrait that suddenly comes to life when approached and attacks the player. It floats about and performs swoops at the player. They are often encountered in groups, but can be easily defeated with just a couple of attacks with most weapons.
It drops Alkahest (10.00%), being one of the main sources of this valuable item in the game after the Ghost. However, trying to farm this item from individual Poltergeists isn't very efficient; it is better to do this when encountered in groups (Livre Ex Machina and Towers of Twin Dragons). It also drops Oak, a Material which beside its usage in crafting, can also be sold for relatively good profit for 240G apiece.

Trivia[]
- The design and attack patterns of this enemy are possibly inspired by the Captain, a possessed portrait miniboss from Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.
- All Poltergeist that appear in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night are portraits of backers of the Kickstarter campaign of a specific tier.
- In the Demons list of the Archives, the portrait of a different backer will appear every time the Poltergeist entry is highlighted.
- Prior to the day-one patch for Ritual of the Night, Poltergeists would drop five Alkahests instead of one.
