Bloodstained Wiki

An amphibian that secretes a deadly poison through its skin.
~ Description from Ritual of the Night

Poison Toad is a recurring enemy in the Bloodstained series.

Appearances[]

Ritual of the Night[]

An advanced version of the common Toad, only with purple skin and now poisonous to the touch. If the player comes in contact with a Poison Toad they'll be instantly poisoned, so it is highly advisable to keep a few Mithridates in inventory to have a quick way of curing this dangerous status (and not spend them all in crafting or enhancing shards). Fortunately, Poison Toads also frequently and conveniently drop Mithridates. Likewise, they drop the Resist Poison shard, which sometimes can guard against the Poison status and is also easy to fully enhance.

The Poison Toad usually performs short leaps, but every once in a while it will perform a longer one, telegraphing this move by curling for a moment before jumping. Due to the dangerousness of the Poison status they can inflict, it is advised not to rush at them and better watch out if they're preparing to do a long leap.

Poison Toads first appear in the exterior sections of the Towers of Twin Dragons. They are next encountered in the room preceding Bathin's boss room in the Underground Sorcery Lab. Fortunately, there is a Save Room on the bottom-left exit; so, if the player gets poisoned and they don't have Mithridates, they can quickly head to the Save Room to get instantly cured and healed. These enemies reappear in the Hidden Desert, where they present a much higher threat due to the terrain of the rooms they are usually encountered in, which are mainly vertically oriented and with many sandfalls that block the view, not to mention that the only Save Room of the entire area is located near its end.
