Paulina is a location in Classic II: Dominique's Curse. It is the third town encountered in the game and is the easternmost one in Limbo, reachable only from the Malebolge Gateway.
Description[]
In comparison to the earlier towns of Goetia and Theurgia, Paulina is built on more mountainous terrain and thus requires some platforming in order to avoid falling into thorns or bottomless pits between buildings. Like in all other towns of Limbo, the demons living here are docile during the New Moon but turn hostile or vanish during the Dead Moon.
The Merchant here initially sells Dominique the Wrapping and Talisman, which increase the range and power respectively of her main attack, as well as the Unholy Fire. After she brings him a serving of Omurice from the Royal Chef's tomb in Tartarus, he is overjoyed and offers her a Passive Shard reserved for his best customers: the True Sight, which is needed to reveal the sandy Megiddo Wastes as the watery Megiddo Depths. After the Revenant is defeated in Tartarus, he will relocate to this town and give Dominique Coins in exchange for demon Remains.
The house on the lowest floor farthest to the right in Paulina contains a Sabnock and a secret: if Dominique approaches the roof by creating platforms, she will find four chests that contain the following items (from left to right): a Plunder Ring, a Waystone, an Ofuda Charm, and another Plunder Ring.
Dialogue[]
Red text is presented as such by the True Sight.
- Assassin: "The Eastern sands hide more than just ruins... For those willing to take the plunge." (followed by laughter)
- Assassin: "Few humans dare challenge Bael. There was one man, named D... he recorded his knowledge in a tome called Logaeth."
- Assassin: "The Royal Chef was buried in the south. I say a prayer whenever I pass by that tomb."
- Sabnock: "Shards will certainly increase your power... but is that enough to escape Limbo?"
- Rul'sha: "A hunter called the Master Carpenter stalks prey in the Stygian Marsh. If you haven't seen him... he's seen you."
- Lamashtu: "You humans are so weak you can't even breathe underwater! Too bad there's no shard to fix that! Ha ha!" (followed by audible laughter)
- Sabnock: "A once-proud civilization was swallowed by the ocean. The anguish of its fallen dragged it to Limbo, at a place called Megiddo."
- Lamashtu: "Sometimes I catch the scent of a relic, or shiny treasure... but it leads head-first into a wall! I must be imagining it..." (followed by laughter)
- Revenant: "You summoned me to this realm, just to rot in some village?"
