| ~ Description from Ritual of the Night |
Morte is a recurring enemy in the Bloodstained series.
Description[]
A lesser demon that lacks a corporeal form. It emerges from the ground (and on rare occasions also from ceilings) as a puddle of an unknown dark substance that acquires a humanoid form and slowly advances toward the enemy.
Because they do not drop any Shards or items and yield only an utterly minuscule EXP reward, there is normally no reason to ever go out of your way to slay one that happens to be in the area (unless you are on Lindsay Blair's introductory quest to slay five Mortes for three Rings). However, their extreme sluggishness and frailty makes them reliable fodder for grinding out Techniques.
In Classic Mode, Mortes take on a slightly different appearance and use the running animations of Kunekune to sprint instead of slowly slithering. In Classic II: Dominique's Curse, slow Mortes appear mostly in the overworld (particularly in early areas), while the faster variants from the first Classic Mode are found in later areas as well as in dungeons.

Trivia[]
- The design and attack patterns of this enemy are likely based on the Zombie from the Castlevania franchise.
- Morte is a French word which translates to "deceased" or "dead person", which fits this enemy's zombie-like characteristics and behavior.
