The Monster Bird Tear is a Material in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
Monster Bird Tears are portrayed as the "generic fluid" used whenever you are willing to create a basic restorative consumable yourself instead of buying one for cheap. It has an 8% base chance to drop from one of the Aellos in both Galleon Minerva and the Entrance, and it drops at a 15% base rate from its Ocypete cousin in the upper reaches of Dian Cécht Cathedral.
The basic Ether costs 100G, so you would be saving little money crafting Ethers out of Monster Bird Tears and Rat Tails dropped by the Giant Rat (10%). That said, Rat Tails have virtually no other use other than to partially enhance the Giant Rat's own dropped Summon Rat conjure shard, so they and Monster Bird Tears can be casually used up on Ethers at a moment's notice. The Giant Rat is easier to reach in Arvantville in hard mode.
Holy Water is used over the course of the game in a lot of relevant passive shard enhancements; even so, you would largely have to buy all your Holy Waters for 300G each because it takes five Halite to craft one in conjunction with a Monster Bird Tear. Unless you spend an inordinate amount of time farming Seamas to drop Halites, five Halites cost 250G in total, so little money would be saved crafting Holy Water yourself. Furthermore, you will want to hoard Halites for all kinds of food recipes that will bestow permanent stat bonuses.
Mithridate is another 300G consumable that a Monster Bird Tear can be used up to craft one unit of. While it only takes a Toad Eye dropped by a Toad (8%) in Garden of Silence as an additional material, you would largely maintain a viable stockpile of this poison-healing potion by opening up blue chests in the early regions of the Entrance zone.
Stonethaw, a third 300G consumable, is somewhat more worthwhile to craft because it only takes a Melting Bone dropped by an early Bone Morte at a good 15% base rate. This can be used to rank up the Familiar: Dullahammer Head shard, as well as the Resist Petrification shard dropped by the later Malediction; all ranks of both shards would require a total of sixteen Stonethaws.
The final potion this ingredient goes into is the Poison item, which goes into all kinds of poison-themed crafts and shard enhancements. However, you would largely be better served getting the crafted item to drop directly from the Poison Toads and Scythe Mites at the Towers of Twin Dragons.
The Aello's own Gale Crawler conjure shard requires a Monster Bird Tear to advance it through each of its first six ranks, meaning you can farm Aello both for its shard and the material needed to advance through most of its ranks. Each rank increases the time the shockwave spends traveling along the ground. Incidentally, three Monster Bird Tears can be used to rank the Dimension Shift directional utility shard to Rank 4 at the very end of the game, increasing how far away the travel point appears from Miriam.
