The Millionaire's Bane is a boss in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
The Millionaire's Bane at first glance resembles a classic "one-armed bandit" slot machine. When confronted (or attacked in following encounters), it reveals a mouth lined with fangs and a large red tongue. The creature's "face" is a three-reel slot machine, which when activated, can produce a variety of effects.
The Millionaire's Bane can be found inside the Millionaire's Room in the Hall of Termination. The room can only be entered with the Millionaire's Key, which is found in the Den of Behemoths.
Lindsay's quest, "Avenge the death of Juste!", requires you to slay the Millionaire's Bane once and rewards you with the Gold Power Ring.
Combat[]
Upon fighting it for the first time, the Millionaire's Bane will immediately attack the player. In subsequent fights, it will be docile until approached or attacked.
- Lunge: The creature will lunge forward and try to collide with the player. This lunge has a reach of at least half the room.
- Jump: The Millionaire's Bane will jump into the air, attempting to position itself above the player, and dropping on top of them. Regardless of whether or not it hits, the impact will cause two doors on the ceiling to open –one near the right and one near the left edges of the room–, dropping showers of harmful heavy coins.
- Slots: Every time the Millionaire's Bane takes damage there is a chance it will stop moving and spin its reels. During this animation it is probably supposed to be invulnerable, although it still takes damage from Welcome Company or Bunnymorphosis. If the reels are not three-of-a-kind, the Millionaire's Bane will perform a small jump with its tongue out and then resume its normal attack patterns. Each three-of-a-kind produces a specific result:
- Watermelons: Two large red bombs drop from the ceiling doors to the floor: after a short delay they will detonate in powerful explosions. They can be moved around by striking them. The Millionaire's Bane itself is not damaged by these explosions.
- Bells: Two cannons emerge from the ceiling and fire volleys of three bouncing projectiles each, mirroring each other's firing angles. The right-hand corner of the room is safe during this attack.
- Cherries: A portal opens and spawns a regular Lili to assist the boss.
- Reroll: No effect. The Millionaire's Bane will restart its reels and go again. This can happen several times in a row.
- Bars: Normal money rains down from the doors in the roof, totaling about 2,000G.
- 7s (Jackpot): Around 7,000G worth of 100G coins will be produced. At the end of this, the Millionaire's Bane instantly dies regardless of its remaining HP, and drops both the Jackpot shard and the Imbrued Fang.
Trivia[]
- Reportedly, increasing the player's LCK stat (by wearing gear, accessories and using shards that boost this stat, such as the Valkyrie Dress, Valkyrie Tiara, two Gambler's Rings, equipping Augment LCK, etc.) also increases the chances of hitting the "Jackpot" and instantly win this boss fight. However, this is unconfirmed.
- Aurora can collect Gold by fighting the Millionaire's Bane. However, the Gold that she collects from the boss is not displayed outside the file select screen and has no gameplay effect; Valefar will fail to collect any from her and die in his healing animation regardless.
