The Melting Bone is a Material in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
The early-game Bone Morte enemy drops the Melting Bone at a very high 15% base rate, and you are likely to get a large stockpile over the course of the game simply because one respawning Bone Morte stands in your way on a platform you need to jump onto to reach the Warp Room at Arvantville. A total of three can immediately be used to advance through the first three ranks of the Bone Toss directional shard the Bone Morte also drops, which increases the size of the hurled projectile.
A basic material you're even more likely to accumulate a large stockpile of is the Small Webbing, dropped at an equally high 15% base rate from the many Bats that will cross your path. One Small Webbing and one Melting Bone can be crafted into a basic Potion, which costs 200G otherwise, so it is safe to routinely dump each of these two materials into refills of your Potion stockpile throughout the game. (Note that the High Potion, which both costs five times as much as a Potion and heals for five times as much when used, can also be crafted by "combining" four Potions, meaning you can somewhat easily refill your High Potion stockpile using what amounts to four Bones and four Webbings per restorative.) Three each of both materials are given by Johannes when he first explains the crafting system to you in the hub at Arvantville.
In another application that can save a good amount of gold in the long run, Melting Bones can be used in conjunction with the Monster Bird Tears dropped by the early Aello (8%) to create Stonethaws, which cost 300G otherwise. Sixteen Stonethaws are necessary to eventually enhance both Resist Petrification and Familiar: Dullahammer Head to Rank 9, and a Stonethaw can also be "fused" with a Holy Water and a Mithridate to create a Panacea, which is itself an ingredient for several significant potions and passive shards.
Finally, late in the game, the Invert skill shard won by defeating Orobas in Inferno Cave can be ranked up to extend the invulnerability period Miriam enjoys whenever she uses Invert to flip the environment. Three Melting Bones are used to rank it up to Rank 4.
