The Manju is a Food in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Availability[]
Manju is prepared through Johannes' alchemy menu in Arvantville, requiring 1 Red Bean Paste, 1 Flour, 1 Baking Soda, and 1 Sugar. All these ingredients can be bought at Dominique's shop, including all of the component ingredients of the first Red Bean Paste you need to craft (that being 1 Red Bean, 1 Sugar, and 1 Halite).
Manju, therefore, is one among a few foods that can be created as soon as Miriam can craft; costing at most 650G, one can create Manju before setting foot in the castle. Afterward, you can directly buy as many Manju as you wish for 500G per meal.
While the Manju is one of the first foods Miriam can prepare in the game, ironically, an already prepared Manju can be found in the Oriental Sorcery Lab, one of the final areas of the game, by breaking the nose of a large demon statue located there.
Usage[]
Manju is a consumable, restoring 125 HP when used, and giving a permanent bonus of +1 LCK when first eaten. Luck is a very helpful statistic given how much material-gathering occurs throughout Bloodstained, so it is worth investing the required 650G into preparing one Manju as soon as possible. Given that it then costs 500G to buy a duplicate of this food and it restores a fair 125 HP for the price, it both costs exactly half as much as a High Potion and restores exactly half as much HP. Since up to 99 Manju can be carried (as opposed to 5 High Potions), this is a fair and viable restorative to buy in bulk.
Trivia[]
- Manjū is a Japanese confection consisting of a steamed bun with filling; a common filling is anko, or red bean paste, as shown in the game. The Manju in-game have a white coating, likely flour-based, though other manjū recipes include rice powder.
