| ~ Description from Ritual of the Night |
Malediction is a recurring enemy in the Bloodstained series.
Appearances[]
Ritual of the Night[]
Malediction is an advanced version of the Dullahammer Head; it looks and behaves almost identically, except that it is golden-colored and, most importantly, it will turn the player to Stone on contact. Like its less powerful counterpart, Maledictions are pesky enemies that infinitely spawn in great numbers in certain rooms, usually those where precise platforming is required. The rooms where they appear in may sometimes have spike pits or other environmental hazards, where bumping into a Malediction may result in the player falling into one of these traps while petrified and sustain heavy and constant damage until they can either free themselves from this status or die trying.
Fortunately, Maledictions also frequently and conveniently drop Stonethaws, which allow the player to instantly remove the Stone status on demand. Likewise, they drop the Resist Petrification shard, which sometimes can guard against the Stone status and is also easy to fully enhance.

Trivia[]
- The modern definition of a malediction is "a curse; imprecation" and/or "the utterance of a curse". Malediction is derived from the Latin verb maledicere, which means "to speak evil of" or "to curse".
- The design and attack patterns of this enemy are likely based on the Medusa Head from the Castlevania franchise, in particular the yellow "Gold Medusa" variant, which turns the player to stone on contact.
