The Lion Mane is a Material in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
The Lion Mane is dropped at a rather high 12% base rate by the Sabnocks stationed in the Entrance, but the items they are involved in the crafting of can largely be overlooked unless you are focusing on boot-class weapons throughout your playthrough.
One mane can be used in conjunction with three Houndskins dropped by the Gieremunds (10%) in the Entrance and three Cottons found in blue chests in the Entrance and Galleon Minerva to create a pair of Battle Boots, which can then be "fused" with a Baselard (using two more Cotton) to create Lethal Boots. However, both of these types of boots start out purchasable in Dominique's supply post, and a pair of Lethal Boots can be found for free in a room in the Entrance near the Garden of Silence that is just before the boss battle with Zangetsu.
The Gamigin in Hall of Termination and upper Dian Cécht Cathedral drops the Kick Expertise passive shard, and the latter zone, normally explored over halfway through the game, can be explored about one third through the game using Double Jump's dive kick technique on hanging lanterns to perform a sequence break. Three Lethal Boots will be necessary to use up as materials to enhance that shard through its middle three ranks, so to save yourself 5400G buying two more Lethal Boots, you can craft your own Battle Boots and Baselards and then fuse them as necessary. (Note that reaching Rank 9 with Kick Expertise and creating its skill shard clone ultimately becomes possible no earlier than finding Damascus Equipment/R in Underground Sorcery Lab, which is halfway through the game.)
Another early-game craft that takes lion manes is the Thorn Whip, which also takes three Houndskins and takes four easy-to-drop Bat Fangs. However, there should be no reason to craft this yourself because it is the reward for Susie Quinn's very first cooking quest (requiring a Rice Ball), and the Thorn Whip is not used in any other crafting recipes or shard enhancements.
The final use for Lion Manes is provided by the Buer enemy that starts appearing in the lower, earlier segment of the Cathedral zone. The Buer's own dropped Monster Fang is the primary material used in all eight of the rank enhancements of the Summon Buer conjure shard the Buer itself drops; each rank increases the duration of the friendly Buer summoned. The middle three ranks each take one Lion Mane in addition.
