The Lethe Cavern is a location in Classic II: Dominique's Curse. It is a cave found beneath the Megiddo Depths after the True Sight reveals them to be a watery area. To access it, Dominique must equip the Deep Sinker – a Passive Shard acquired from Focalor – and descend through the water in the middle of the Megiddo Depths. This will put her beside a staircase that leads upward; ascending these stairs will put her back on dry land in the Megiddo Depths area, near the entrance to the Fallen City.
Overview[]
Despite being a visually damp area found beneath a lake, most of the path down the Lethe Cavern is dry. The descent begins in some ruins with a Greek aesthetic similar to the Megiddo Depths and the Fallen City. A set of platforms allows for a passage above a pool of water, but if Dominique still has the Deep Sinker equipped, she can dive into it to find an Ofuda Charm inside a chest besides a swimming Deeseama. Shortly to the left of the lake, there is a fake wall that can be shattered with the Block Breaker to uncover a room with a Plunder Ring.
As the cave path continues down, there is a focus on platforming as the environment transitions from ruins to a more natural cave environment with waterfalls in the background. Deeper down, the only ground consists of natural rocks and wooden scaffolding above bottomless pits.
During the New Moon, the enemies here (besides the Deeseama) include freely flying Bats, fast-moving Mortes, Cannon Mortes, a Dullahammer, and Lance Armors. The Dead Moon removes the latter three enemy types but adds Wisps, Archdemons, and Bone Mortes.
Trivia[]
- This area is named after Lethe, the river of the underworld associated with forgetfulness in Greek mythology. The other four rivers provide the names for the Stygian Marsh, Lake Acheron, the Cocytus Ridge, and Phlegethon.
