| ~ Description from Ritual of the Night |
Lamashtu is an enemy in the Bloodstained series.
Origins[]
In Mesopotamian mythology, Lamashtu is a demonic Mesopotamian deity with the "head of a lion, the teeth of a donkey, naked breasts, a hairy body, bloodstained hands, long fingers and fingernails, and the feet of Anzû". She was believed to feed on the blood of human infants and was widely blamed as the cause of miscarriages and cot deaths.
Although Lamashtu has traditionally been identified as a demoness, the fact that she could cause evil on her own without the permission of other deities strongly indicates she was seen as a goddess in her own right. Mesopotamian peoples protected against her using amulets and talismans. She was believed to ride in her boat on the river of the underworld and she was associated with donkeys. She was believed to be the daughter of An.
Description[]
Lamashtu can be viewed as an advanced version of Lili, but who mainly attacks by lashing with a whip instead of kicks (although she can also perform them). She has blue skin, wears a red costume complete with long sleeved gloves and long boots that go all the way up to her thighs, and fashions a spiky hairstyle that somewhat resembles a lion's mane.
Appearances[]
Ritual of the Night[]
Lamashtu has a similar body shape and movement patterns than a Lili, although she tends to be more mobile and aggressive. However, unlike Lili, who mostly relies on unarmed combat by employing kicks, Lamashtu mainly attacks with a whip, although she can also perform kicks, high jumps and backflips like the former. She drops the Beast Killer whip, which even if any acquired aren't used for fighting, they can be sold for good profit for 1,920G apiece.
Killing six Lamashtus is the requirement to complete Lindsay's "Avenge the death of Carl!" quest, which rewards one Diamond. An easy to farm Lamashtu can be found just outside the Warp Room of the Secret Sorcery Lab (along with a Dark Elemental, which also drops Diamonds).
Classic II: Dominique's Curse[]
Lamashtus are among the "civilized" demons that live in the towns of Paulina, Almadel, and Notoria. Dominique Baldwin can speak to them for information or advice. During the Dead Moon, Lamashtus actively chase Dominique between floors and attack her with jumping kicks. They chase her more aggressively than the Lilis from earlier towns.
Curse of the Moon[]
Similar to Lili's in this game, Lamashtus will leap into the air and slam their butts on the ground, damaging the player and creating damaging heart-shaped clouds on either side of them.

Dialogue[]
The following quotes are spoken by different Lamashtus in Classic II: Dominique's Curse. Red text is presented as such by the True Sight.
- "You humans are so weak you can't even breathe underwater! Too bad there's no shard to fix that! Ha ha!" (followed by audible laughter)
- There is such a shard: the Deep Sinker.
- "Sometimes I catch the scent of a relic, or shiny treasure... but it leads head-first into a wall! I must be imagining it..." (followed by laughter)
- She is probably not imagining it. Many useful items are indeed hidden in walls and can be uncovered with the Block Breaker.
- "Merchants who journey into the field sell better shards, but they often require one of yours in exchange..."
- "I often pass through the Wood of Sacrifice. Thankfully, there aren't any Hunters near there. They make me so nervous..." (followed by laughter)
- There are no Hunters in the Wood of Sacrifice itself, but the neighboring Avernus Grove contains one: the Silver Wolfman.
- "I've heard of a merchant who wanders a battleground far to the east, but he only shows up if you bring your own bag." (followed by laughter)
- The "battleground" spoken of here is the cemetery of Golgotha in the northwest. Aside from the deceptive place description, this information is true.
- "I once saw a human create platforms out of thin air. Another passed through solid rock... Your realm must be a terrifying place."
