He voiced Johannes in the Japanese version of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.[1]
Career[]
Kazuyuki Okitsu was born in Nishiawaji Town, Mihara County (now Tsui, Minamiawaji City) on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture.
When he was in the fifth grade of elementary school, he liked the TV anime Mashin Hero Wataru. He heard from a relative who was also an anime fan that Wataru (played by Mayumi Tanaka) and Himiko (played by Megumi Hayashibara) were playing monkey twins on the NHK Educational TV show Tomodachi Ippai, and after watching it, he learned about voice acting as a profession for the first time and decided to become a voice actor.
From junior high school and onward, while watching anime and reading anime magazines, his dream of becoming a voice actor was revived, and by the time he entered Hyogo Prefectural Sumoto High School, he was torn between joining the broadcasting club or the drama club as the first step. He joined the broadcasting club for three years because he thought it would be interesting to practice drama production, announcing, and reciting, and to have access to audio equipment.
He participated in competitions such as the NHK Cup National High School Broadcasting Contest, where he won first place in Hyogo Prefecture in the recitation division for his recitation of Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. As a senior in high school, he served as the master of ceremonies for the opening ceremony of the 79th National High School Baseball Championship.
After graduating from high school, he decided to enroll in the Broadcasting Department of the Faculty of Arts at Osaka University of Arts. He also enrolled in the Broadcasting Department of the Faculty of Arts at Osaka University of Arts, where he had Hideaki Anno as a senior student.
Although he already wanted to become a voice actor, he had never studied acting; the only time he had performed on stage was when a friend in the drama club invited his in high school, so he joined a student theater troupe in university and spent all his time acting.
During his fourth year at university, he moved to another theater company, and continued to participate in the theater company in Osaka Prefecture after moving to Tokyo, but the company disbanded. At the same time, while he was a student, he also attended a weekend lesson course at a voice actor training school.
After auditioning for a training school, he was accepted into an agency, and after graduating from university, he moved to Tokyo and began his acting career. The agency disbanded, so he continued to act in small theater troupes.
After working for RME (until October 2006), he went on to work as a freelancer for a while, but after meeting a manager from KeKKe Corporation while recording a narration line, he was approached and joined the company in May 2007.
At around the age of 22, he made his voice acting debut as a polar bear zookeeper in an animal documentary on Animal Planet. In 2007, he made his anime debut in the TV anime series Moetan. He made his foreign film dubbing debut in The Dead Zone Season 5.
In 2008, he appeared as a regular on the TV show Tetsuwan Birdy DECODE, and his first regular role was as Noto Hisamitsu in Toradora!, the first role he auditioned for.
After building his career in Shiki and Ladies vs Butlers!, he was selected to play the lead role of Jonathan Joestar in the 2012 anime series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. He was only familiar with the original JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and when he was visiting a senior at his house, he was recommended Part 3, so he had not read Part 1 until the time of his audition. He also auditioned for the lead role of Joseph Joestar in Part 2.
