Igniculus is a Familiar exclusive to Aurora Mode in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Called Firefly by Aurora, he is a close friend of hers and a part of her starting equipment.
History[]
As shown in Child of Light, Igniculus is a wisp-like being that was created when Aurora entered the kingdom of Lemuria. After they saved the kingdom together, he and a few more of her new friends tried to follow her back home.
The whole group found themselves in the setting of Bloodstained instead, and Igniculus was the only one besides Aurora to remain at her side and to not be transformed by a curse. This makes him her default Familiar and a part of her starting equipment along with the Sword of Mathildis and her Light Ray skill. Igniculus's origin also makes him the only one of Aurora's Familiars to lack an equivalent in Miriam's campaign.
Description[]
Most of the time, Igniculus simply floats around Aurora with a happy expression on his face. When he spots an enemy, the smile turns into an angry frown and he flies near the enemy to attack it with a damaging flash of light that can temporarily afflict the enemy with the Slow condition. If Aurora's health is low, Igniculus can slowly heal her by 50 HP at a time; unlike Miriam's Carabosse familiar, he needs no resources to do this.

- Dian Cécht Cathedral: The main entrance of the area.
- Entrance: In the vertical shaft leading to the Oriental Sorcery Lab, enter the first room to the left, before the corridors full of spikes.
- Livre Ex Machina: In a vertical room full of Maledictions, take the teleporting torii gate to enter the room to the right; it is the same room that with Miriam, who required to activate a pressure plate, contained a Familiar: Silver Knight shard.
- Dian Cécht Cathedral: Fly up in the room with the bells before Bloodless, along the right wall. Describing it alternatively, immediately under the entrance from the Hall of Termination.
- Livre Ex Machina: The room is located directly to the left of Celeste's Room; it is the same room that with Miriam, who required to activate a pressure plate, contained a Familiar: Silver Knight shard.
- Forbidden Underground Waterway: Enter from the well of the Garden of Silence, then enter the room directly at the bottom of the first room.
- Hidden Desert: In the room where Deep Sinker was for Miriam; requires Alfred's defeat.
- Underground Sorcery Lab: In the room before Bathin, enter the room in the right-up corner, then break the secret wall to enter the next room.

Igniculus can be enhanced using Firefly Elixir, a material only found in Aurora's campaign. Achieving maximum Rank and Grade for all shards, including Igniculus, is necessary to obtain 100% completion with Aurora. Similarly to the Silver Knight, his Grade can be raised by breaking eight special Shard Stands placed around the Hellhold castle. In fact, most of these locations are the same ones where Miriam can find the Shard Stands for the Familiar: Silver Knight and Shortcut shards.
