Appearances[]

Ritual of the Night[]

In order to confront IGA, the player must have the backer bonus or purchased the "IGA's Back Pack" DLC. They must also have already defeated Gebel by using the Zangetsuto to slash the moon in order to open the path to the "true" ending.

If these conditions are fulfilled, there will still be a boss door to the throne room where Gebel was fought upon returning: entering the room will result in a fight with IGA. Note that it is not possible to exit the fight with IGA by using a Waystone once it has begun.

Dominique's Curse[]

IGA makes a secret appearance as a Merchant in the Pandemonium in Classic II: Dominique's Curse. In the last room before the portal to Bael (the room containing Mortes), there is a fragile wall to the right. The True Sight does not reveal anything particular about this wall, but Unholy Fire can break it, opening up a path to a room with an angel statue in the background. Here, a friendly IGA (wearing his boss attire) is found walking back and forth. He sells Dominique Potions, Ethers, and Effigies, and he can also give her Coins in exchange for demon Remains.

Strategy[]

Like the classic Castlevania boss character he is based on, IGA's body does not take damage, only his head is vulnerable. Since he is far taller than Miriam, it is necessary to jump in order to hit this weak point with most weapon types.

While this boss can be considered one of the toughest in the game due to his many, hardly avoidable and highly damaging attacks, there is an easy way to defeat him. When the battle begins, quickly cast Invert, run right above IGA (Accelerator recommended), and attack him with Chisel Barrage (or any other Conjure or Manipulative Shard with a similar pattern) aiming directly at his head (recommended to raise both this Shard's Rank and Grade as much as possible beforehand). Whenever IGA changes position, quickly run and stand over his head again and repeat the process. Due to the nature of the boss's attack patterns, which are mainly designed for fighting grounded enemies, most of them won't be able to track the player while on the ceiling. This way, the player can constantly attack his head with a nonstop stream of highly damaging chisels until he is defeated, while at the same time remain relatively safe from most of his attacks.

Nonetheless, it is also highly advisable to have the Directed Shield ready to block any possible attacks –mainly his flame pillars and ice hail attacks– since it can be hard to keep up with the IGA's quick and constant teleportations. After sustaining enough damage, the boss will gain a powerful and very hard to avoid attack where he casts a trail of flames that covers the entire floor, opposite wall and ceiling of the room. While this attack is very hard to avoid by normal means, the Directed Shield can block it completely.

Like most of the other bosses, if IGA is defeated without taking any damage, an extra, purely honorary Boss Medal (the IGA Medal) will be rewarded.

Quest[]

Defeating IGA at least once is required for Lindsay's Hunting Quest "Avenge the death of Julius!" which is added if the backer reward/DLC is installed. If it is unlocked, the player can pick up this Quest the first time they talk to Lindsay in Arvantville. Completing this Quest awards a Sword Whip.

Quotes[]

  • "As long as I am called for, I will keep resurrecting."
  • "Unacceptable!"
  • "Take this!"
  • "I'm surprised to see you made it this far. Perhaps you don't need my help." (in Classic II: Dominique's Curse)

Trivia[]

  • IGA is essentially a souped-up version of the Dracula boss battles in previous Castlevania titles. Both share the fireball move, throwing wine glasses, and a tendency to continuously teleport.
  • His in-game description: "He was told there was no future... But he knew they were wrong.", is likely a reference to Koji Igarashi's departure from Konami and the Castlevania series, which eventually led him to create the Bloodstained series.
  • Adrasteia is practically useless against IGA (except when using Scattershot ammunition) because its beams will lock on to the boss' invincible center of mass instead of his head.
  • IGA is the only boss whose battle voice is not listed in the Sound Test mode even after the corresponding DLC has been installed.
