Allows you to jump higher than normal.

High Jump is a Skill Shard in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Description[]

High Jump allows Miriam to perform a large vertical leap on the ground by pressing Up and the Backstep button at the same time; or, if in midair, just pressing the Backstep button alone will suffice. The leap can be repeated as many times as the player likes, allowing them to gain unlimited vertical movement.

Since it is a crafted Shard, enhancing Grade requires the player to craft copies: Alchemic Bounty can be very useful to save on the rare material. Enhancing the Shard's Grade increases the height of the jump. Enhancing Rank adds I-frames to the jump animation, with the number increasing as the Shard is upgraded. These are indicated by a blue glow around Miriam the instant the jump occurs.

Improving High Jump's Rank requires the same material as crafting it, Bovine Plumes, at a rate of one per Rank. Since it only gives extra I-frames, it is best to hold off on this until the Shard's Grade has been maxed out.

Availability[]

High Jump is a crafted Shard which does not drop from any enemy. It instead becomes available to craft once the player has acquired Invert from Orobas in Inferno Cave, though it actually uses Double Jump as a crafting ingredient. Crafting it requires the player to own this shard and have one Bovine Plume, which can be acquired from the high-level cow-demon Haagenti found in Oriental Sorcery Lab. As with all crafted Shards, crafting it does not expend the Double Jump, only the Bovine Plume.

As a progression-related Shard, all copies of High Jump are removed from the player's inventory in New Game Plus and its Grade is reduced to 1.

Trivia[]

  • High Jump is a common ability in the Castlevania series. The move in said series was originally performed by pressing Down, Up and JUMP, but in later games, it was changed to pressing Up and the Back Dash button (or simply the Back Dash button while in midair), which is the same combination used in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. On the other hand, Down, Up and JUMP was assigned to Invert instead.
