A cap that helps mask the wearer's presence.

The Hermit's Beret is a Head Armor in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Description[]

The Hermit's Beret is a particularly defense-oriented Head Armor that gives DEF +12 and MND +6. Most players will find themselves only being able to craft this quite late in the game.

Through a very specific and focused route, it is possible to craft and equip this in time for the Valac boss only halfway through the game. All of its materials can be gotten beforehand: Sinister Rags drop from Cyhyraeths (8%), a Demon Pelt drops from the caged Gusions (6%) in earlier Livre Ex Machina, and Sinister Eyes drop from Poison Toads (5%) such as those hopping across the upper-left outdoor screen of the Towers of Twin Dragons.

The only other restriction in the way of acquiring this is that Very Fine Equipment/R must be found, and its placement at the upper edge of Dian Cécht Cathedral suggests it is only reached much later in the game once you can use Invert. However, you can reach both the upper "post-Reflector Ray" part of the zone and the chest itself by using Double Jump's dive kicks to rebound off various hanging lanterns, meaning it is feasible to craft this shortly after defeating Andrealphus.

The Gunslinger's Hat recipe, also unlocked by Very Fine Equipment/R, can be said to be an offense-oriented equivalent to this item because it can be crafted at roughly the same midway point in the game. It requires a Durable Rag, which mainly drops from Assassins in the Bridge of Evil train ride and the stairs afterward. You can craft it even earlier, in time for Valac, if you are willing to dismantle the Riding Habit found in the Towers of Twin Dragons for its Durable Rag.

Trivia[]

  • Despite its description stating that it "mask[s] the wearer's presence", the beret does not conceal the player in any way and enemies aggro at the usual range.
