The Gunslinger's Hat is a Head Armor in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
The earliest point a Gunslinger's Hat can be crafted, unexpectedly, is before the Valac boss in Towers of Twin Dragons because of the Riding Habit that can be found in a breakable wall. By that point, you can already use the Double Jump skill shard's dive-kick technique to explore the upper reaches of Dian Cécht Cathedral and, in particular, reach an out-of-the-way green chest containing Very Fine Equipment/R, the recipe book that unlocks the Gunslinger's Hat. By dismantling the Riding Habit, you can get a Durable Rag a fair time before you can start "normally" gathering them as drops from the Assassins during and after the train ride sequence in the Bridge of Evil. The other required materials are a Wool dropped by the Wolfman that is stationed throughout the Towers and five Silver Bullets, which most notably require a Silver dropped by the early Bloodbringer (and also found in the blue chests in the Towers).
Statistically, this hat offers a strong DEF boost supported by an extra CON point, as well as a fairly useful STR boost. If you are only using this hat for these stats, however, this seems only slightly superior as a headpiece that boosts STR than the Wolf Hood you can already have dropped from the aforementioned Wolfman, in which case you might prefer to use your first, early Durable Rag on crafting a Bunny Ears instead (which offers 5 LCK and doesn't require the recipe book).
The thematic feature of this headgear is that, while using any firearm, the amount of bullets used from your inventory per shot is doubled, and the shot bullet will deal a little over twice as much base damage. While this essentially allows for your bullet stockpiles to be spent much faster pumping damage into a boss or extremely tough lategame enemy, the actual net positive damage increase per bullet spent is very little. There is also the likelihood that you can miss with your stacked-up shot, thus wasting two bullets instead of one, whereas shooting two normal-damage bullets in succession makes it more likely that you will land with at least one of your bullets. At least when it comes to bullets with limited stockpiles, the Gunslinger's Hat is most useful as a speedrunning option.
However, the Infinite Rounds also benefit from the full extent of the damage increase, even though the downside of increased ammo consumption will not apply in this case. This turns the Infinite Rounds into an ammo type that is much more damaging than the limited-stock SP Rounds; though the earlier Cowboy Hat would already have made them at least as strong as SP Rounds, the Gunslinger's Hat offers a higher damage boost that brings Infinite Rounds close to the damage output of HP Rounds. Through the Infinite Rounds exploit, the Gunslinger's Hat unexpectedly represents the ability to use any firearm in the game with as little restraint as any melee weapon, long before you can finish Susie Quinn's entire cooking questline very late in the game and be able to use the Recycle Hat to infinitely shoot far more powerful Diamond Bullets.
