The Guardian is a secret Easter egg boss in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It is the boss of The Tunnels.
Description[]
A giant mechanical dragon (about the same size as the Abyssal Guardian) with metal hide and a searchlight cannon in place of a head. It shares most of the same moveset as a normal Dragon, but with a few additional attacks. Shared attacks include a claw swipe, a quick tail swipe, and burrowing itself underground and "swimming" forward. Since its entire body is made of metal, it is almost impervious to attack, sans its searchlight cannon, which acts as its only weak point.
Instead of breathing fire, the Guardian shoots a strong laser beam, although unlike the other dragons, it can shoot it either starting from the top and slowly spraying it toward the bottom, or starting from the bottom and spraying it toward the top. If the player is caught by this beam, they'll be cursed. The beam cannot be blocked, so the player must evade it as best as they can. While firing this beam, the Guardian will also shoot many smaller laser beams from the glowing junctures that are located along its neck. Unlike the larger beam, these can be blocked (e.g.: with Directed Shield). However, because the Guardian's body is made of metal, crouching in front of its legs and attacking them won't have any effect; additionally, the smaller beams will always cover this area, rendering futile this strategy, so the player will have to find any other means at their disposal to avoid these attacks.
Once the Guardian is defeated, the player gains access to a room with a green chest containing the new item, Mystical Scarf.
Notes[]
- This enemy doesn't have an entry in the "Demons" section of the "Archives" menu. As such, it neither has an identifying number in the bestiary nor an in-game description.
- Unlike most bosses in the game, there isn't a medal associated with the Guardian. Defeating it without taking damage won't earn a boss medal to the player.

Trivia[]
- The Guardian is a crossover boss with the game Journey. It follows a similar design as the one used in that game, although the Guardian itself is an original enemy character in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
