Greatsword Expertise is a Passive Shard in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
Upgrading this Shard past Rank 5 requires Flamberge up until Rank 8. A Gram is also needed to reach Rank 9. Like all Passive Shards, its passive effect (in this case, increased attack speed) is applied at that Rank even when the Shard is not equipped. Doing so will increase the damage inflicted by Greatswords.

Tips on gathering materials[]
- Pelekus: Crafted using 2 Iron, then bought for 1,800G. Later on, the Berdiche drops from Axe Outsider (4%) as early as the advanced enemy room above the "Sabnock chamber" in the Entrance and then in later Livre Ex Machina, Hall of Termination, and later Forbidden Underground Waterway, and you can spend 5 Alkahests to break that down into 1 Pelekus (and 1 Damascus and 1 Silver, both useful for some of the steps further down).
- Iron: Drops from Blood Grinder Knight (8%) in Entrance and Garden of Silence, as well as Dullahammer (8%) in Galleon Minerva. Found in blue chests in the Entrance. You can spend 3 Alkahests to dismantle Long Swords dropped by Sabnocks (8%) in Entrance to get 3 Iron (as well as 2 Bronze).
- Flamberge: Crafted using 2 Iron and 2 Obsidian after having found Obsidian Equipment/R in early Garden of Silence, then bought for 3,600G. Alternatively, you can spend 4 Alkahests to dismantle Spiral Swords dropped by Blood Grinder Knight (2%) into Flamberges.
- Iron: Same method as mentioned above.
- Obsidian: Found in blue chests in early Entrance. Drops from Sabnock (5%) in Entrance, then drops from Gargoyle (8%) in the Cathedral. Drops from Light Elementals (10%) that appear in the upper Cathedral but can also be summoned by the Zagan situated at the east end of Garden of Silence.
- Gram: Crafted using 1 Mithril, 1 Damascus, and 1 Silver after having found Damascus Equipment/R in Underground Sorcery Lab (requires jumping at the end of Reflector Ray), then can be bought for 9,000G. One completed Gram can also be found in Hall of Termination and can be dismantled for 6 Alkahests in order to craft it back if you need to add it to the supply post and are missing its respective components. Note that all three of the component materials listed below drop from the enemies in the room full of advanced enemies above the "Sabnock chamber" in the Entrance:
- Mithril: Found in blue chests in later Livre Ex Machina, Hall of Termination, and upper Dian Cécht Cathedral. Drops from Axe Outsider (10%) as early as the advanced enemy room above the "Sabnock chamber" in the Entrance, and later appears in the later portions of Livre Ex Machina and Hall of Termination.
- Damascus: First drops from Puppy (5%) at the west station of Bridge of Evil. Drops from Axe Outsider (12%) as early as the advanced enemy room above the "Sabnock chamber" in the Entrance, and later appears in the later portions of Livre Ex Machina and Hall of Termination. Found in blue chests in Underground Sorcery Lab and later Livre Ex Machina. Also dropped by Lance Armor (8%) in later Livre Ex Machina and upper Dian Cécht Cathedral. Each Shovel dropped by Shovel Armor (6%) dismantles into 2 Damascus using 6 Alkahests.
- Silver: Found in blue chests in later Towers of Twin Dragons and later Livre Ex Machina. Drops from Bloodbringer (8%) found in Dian Cécht Cathedral, the advanced enemy room in the Entrance, and the Hall of Termination; drops from Shield Outsider (10%) in the same advanced enemy room in the Entrance, the later Towers, and the upper Cathedral; and drops from Lance Armor in later Livre Ex Machina and the upper Cathedral.
