Gold, abbreviated as G, is the currency used in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Its primary use is to purchase items from Dominique's supply post.

It is distinct from the crafting material that bears the same name, and the two are not interchangeable.

Availability[]

Gold can be acquired in several denominations, with small amounts depicted as individual coins while larger quantities (up to several thousand) are depicted as bags. Small coins are sometimes randomly dropped by common enemies, while larger amounts are sometimes part of the item drop list for higher-level enemies.

Background objects such as candles and torches will also drop Gold as long as Miriam's MP gauge is full; if it's not they'll instead drop Mana Roses until the gauge is filled.

Miriam can also acquire Gold by selling items, crafting materials, food or Shards to Dominique; typically, the amount is one-tenth the cost of purchasing a given item from the store. High-value materials with limited crafting uses, such as Cypress or Mahogany, are good candidates for sale if the player requires a quick boost to their finances. Some types of items, such as weapons made using 8-bit Coins, cannot be sold.

Shards[]

A number of Shards are either influenced by Gold or affect it in some way. The most direct is Augment Gold, a shard crafted from Augment LCK which boosts the amount of money acquired, making it impossible for low-denomination money to drop from torches at high levels.

Other modes[]

Zangetsu and Bloodless can still collect Gold in their playable modes, but they have nowhere to spend it; the only purpose for it is to make the battle with Valefar more difficult. Aurora can collect Gold during the battle with the Millionaire's Bane, but her count is not displayed outside the file select screen and has no effect on gameplay whatsoever; Valefar will fail to collect any from her and die in his healing sequence regardless.

In Classic Mode, Gold bags simply add to the player's score upon pickup.

In Classic II: Dominique's Curse, Coins are one of two currencies in the realm of Limbo, the other being demon Remains. They are mostly found in candles or in breakable walls. Coins are only accepted as currency by Merchants, while Remains are only accepted by Groundskeepers. If the player suffers a Game Over by running out of lives, continuing will also cost half of their current Coins. Groundskeepers, defeated Hunter demons who have relocated to towns, and IGA offer a service where they give the player Coins in exchange for Remains, but a reverse exchange is not possible. 1 piece of Remains is worth 3 Coins in a currency exchange.

Notes[]

  • The maximum amount of Gold attainable in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is 9,999,999G. Any more Gold obtained afterward won't be taken in consideration (e.g.: if the player has 9,999,999G and has obtained more Gold from enemy drops or by selling items, the counter will still immediately start decreasing the moment they purchase another item).
