Bloodstained Wiki

An evil bat made immense through arcane experimentation.
~ Description from Ritual of the Night

Giant Bat is a recurring enemy in the Bloodstained series. In Classic Mode, it serves as the boss of Stage 1.

Appearances[]

Ritual of the Night[]

As its name implies, the Giant Bat is a huge variant of the common Bat. They are found all over the Den of Behemoths, being one of the most common enemies of that area. Giant Bats are initially found perched upside down from the ceilings of pretty much every room of this area; when approached, the Giant Bat will leave its semi-dormant state and start fluttering toward the player trying to bump into them. It is relatively resilient and in most cases it may take more than one hit to defeat it. When struck, the Giant Bat will get knocked back some distance and either redirect itself toward the player's new position, or attempt to fly out of the screen, or if the player is too far away from it after the first strike it may perch itself back on a nearby ceiling and start sleeping again waiting for the next attack.

Care should be taken when approaching an area populated by many Giant Bats with a Familiar summoned, as it may actually end up making it more difficult to deal with these flying pests. Dullahammer Heads in particular may constantly alert nearby Giant Bats while the player isn't yet ready to fight them, or they can bump a Giant Bat back just as they are about to strike it and actually save it, or they may bump a Giant Bat out of the player's reach and then the bat will redirect itself toward the player while this is already occupied fighting other enemies.

To deal with most of these enemies in the largest halls of the Den of Behemoths, it is recommended to cast Invert and take a moment to explore the ceiling sections to remove all possible Giant Bats from the area before they become an annoyance. It is also advisable to equip any available gear that allows to deal the highest damage possible in order to be able to kill them with a single strike.
