Garden of Silence is a location in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It is one of the areas in Gebel's castle that Miriam must navigate her way through.
It is a somewhat-neglected courtyard where overgrown vines and aquatic vegetation flourish. It is inhibited by Toads, winged pig-like demons called Plume Parmas, and other unforeseen dangers that could hinder Miriam's progress, including one hunter that seeks to dispose of her.
Progression[]
After you have made your initial journey east through the Entrance, you will end up at the Garden of Silence's lower-left corner. You are currently restricted to roughly the west third of its space because the only way to make it to the east end of the first, massive outdoor area you come across is to ride the Coachman's carriage — and he will require you to remove the object blocking his way first. For now, pick up the Obsidian Equipment/R recipe book in the chest underneath and head back out the zone's upper-left exit back into the Entrance zone. Along the way, take note of the blood-red moon that appears to be placed in front of the background buildings in one open-air hallway; it will disappear in subsequent visits of the zone.
The game's course brings you from the Garden of Silence's northwest exit back west through the Entrance Zone along its upper route, which then brings you into the Dian Cécht Cathedral zone. Once you defeat the Craftwork boss, return to the Coachman and use your new Craftwork shard to drop the object blocking his way, and sit on the carriage to ride it to the other end of the area. There is a warp room at the lower-right corner of this large outdoor area.
The next outdoor area has a piano where, in an Easter egg, you can make Miriam sit and watch her play — and if you have the Familiar: Carabosse out, it will sing along and provide you an achievement. That aside, it is possible to hop across the stone pillars in this screen to reach the green chest at the northeast corner with the Faerie Healing Item/R recipe book.
The other large outdoor area at the east end of the zone has a well-like exit at the southeast corner that lets you drop into the east half of the Forbidden Underground Waterway, which is technically a part of that zone that is not mandatory to explore (though certainly useful for gathering power and materials). Dropping past the waterfall in the Waterway is a one-way trip that will force you to return to the Garden of Silence through either its west exits or (preferably) its warp room.
The room with the two Carabosses at the far east end of the zone branches off to two zones. The Bridge of Evil off to the lower right will not allow you to pass by its machine for some time, whereas the route off to the upper right that leads into the southwest quadrant of the Towers of Twin Dragons is mandatory. You will have to return to this crossroads at the Garden of Silence and reenter the Bridge of Evil once you have acquired a completed Passplate.
Very late in the game, when you have successfully fulfilled the "hidden" objective of the Gebel boss fight in Hall of Termination by slicing the blood-red moon with the Zangetsuto earned in the Oriental Sorcery Lab, that same moon will reappear in the Garden of Silence hallway where you first saw it early in the game. Strike it with the Zangetsuto again to open a portal to the Den of Behemoths, one of the final zones in the game.
The sealed-off door at the lower-left corner of the west outdoor area requires the Warhorse's Key, which is found in a chest in the final zone in the game; it contains a boss-like enemy called the Revenant.

Other modes[]
The Coachman is only present in Miriam's campaign. Consequently, other playable characters need different methods to cross the gap that he would ferry her over so that they can reach the Towers of Twin Dragons and the Bridge of Evil. The outdoor piano is also absent for the other playable characters.
Zangetsu Mode[]
Zangetsu can rise to an unlimited height using the Empty Blade technique, which he has from the start. The Garden of Silence thus presents no obstacle for him. After Zangetsu has defeated all available bosses (excluding ones that are also optional for Miriam), the portal to the Den of Behemoths appears in the same hallway as it does in Miriam's campaign.
Bloodless Mode[]
Bloodless initially has two options:
- Take the long route through the Dian Cécht Cathedral and the Livre Ex Machina. This will put her halfway to the top of the west tower.
- Go west to the Galleon Minerva and acquire the Wind Demon's Blood. She can then float across the gap using her umbrella.
Later on, Bloodless can also use the Blood of Flight to jump over the gap. The portal to the Den of Behemoths appears later under the same conditions as it does for Zangetsu.
Defeating the optional Revenant will reward Bloodless with a shard of Blood of Brutality.
Blood Shards[]
- Blood of Brutality × 1
- Blood of Faith × 1
Aurora Mode[]
Aurora must first defeat Craftwork, which will give her the ability to fly. She can then fly across the gap.
Much later on the path to the true ending, Aurora must return to the Garden of Silence after correctly defeating Gebel. She uses the Sword of Mathildis to cleave the moon for a second time, which makes the portal to the Den of Behemoths appear.
