Fried Fish is a Food item in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Availability[]

Fried Fish is ostensibly prepared through Johannes's alchemy menu in Arvantville, requiring Dragon Egg ×1, Forneus Filet ×1, Flour ×1, and Moco Oil ×1 as well as requiring the Fish Dish/R recipe book to have been collected from the Forbidden Underground Waterway (requiring Double Jump's kick-jumping action).

Dragon Eggs are dropped by Dragons (5.00%) in the Livre Ex Machina (the portion accessed by the Reflector Ray in the Underground Sorcery Lab), and 2 Dragon Eggs at a time can be dropped by the Abyssal Guardian (10.00%) that appears as both a boss in that zone and a common enemy in the Den of Behemoths near the end of the game. Forneus Filets are dropped by Forneus (8.00%) swimming under the water in the Forbidden Underground Waterway (though collecting whatever they drop can only be done later in the game starting with the Aqua Stream shard dropped by Deeseamas in the part of the zone reached with Blood Steal). Flour and Moco Oil will both be sold at Dominique's supply post by this point, and the complete meal itself will appear on her menu for 1,280G once you have prepared a Fried Fish of your own.

For most players, the above details are irrelevant because Fried Fish is one of only two pre-prepared meals (the other being Sponge Cake) that can randomly be found in blue chests. These chests lie in the portions of the Forbidden Underground Waterway that start becoming accessible when you enter the zone through the Blood Steal route, then gain the Aqua Stream Directional Shard, and eventually gain the Deep Sinker skill shard in the Hidden Desert.

Usage[]

Fried Fish is a food consumable restoring 320 HP whenever used and giving a permanent bonus of INT +2 when first eaten. It is 28% more restorative and expensive than the High Potion while avoiding the 5-carry cap of the High Potion itself.

Fried Fish is one of the most practical healing methods in all of Bloodstained because of how easily the player can gather a small stockpile of them just by playing through the later stages of the game. While the earlier Sponge Cake found in refillable blue chests in the upper portions of the Dian Cécht Cathedral and the Hall of Termination are free 145 HP restoratives, Fried Fish are 320 HP restoratives easily found for free in blue chests in the later portions of the Forbidden Underground Waterway. Only some of these chests are underwater and require you to have the Deep Sinker shard to open. Unlike potions, you can hold up to 99 Fried Fish, effectively giving Miriam near-infinite HP so long as you remember to use up a Fried Fish whenever her HP is down.

Since Fried Fish will so easily be added to your stockpile as you make repeat trips through the later reaches of the Waterway, there is even potential value in spending 9 Alkahests (which can be farmed from Amy enemies in the Hidden Desert) to Dismantle a Fried Fish into its component materials. These include one Dragon Egg and one Forneus Filet, both of which are monster drops that happen to take part in many other food preparations.

Finally, Fried Fish is itself an ingredient for the following food recipe:
