Bloodstained Wiki

A demon fish that survived the age of myth.
~ Description from Ritual of the Night

Forneus is an enemy in the Bloodstained series.

Appearances[]

Ritual of the Night[]

Forneus is a demonic white fish whose species has somehow managed to survive since ancient times. This prehistoric aquatic creature bears a plethora of black eyes of all sizes that cover its entire body, and also has a series of large fangs that protrude from its jaws. It initially remains mostly stationary on its spawning spot, but once it detects the player it will quickly swim at them attempting to grab a bite.

Despite its repulsive appearance, it seems that its meat, the Forneus Filet, is quite tasty and is heavily used to prepare almost all the delicacies contained within the Fish Dish recipe book. While Forneus Filet can first be obtained by dismantling a Fried Fish (which frequently spawn from blue chests in the lower sections of the Forbidden Underground Waterway), it is much easier and economic to wait a little more and instead farm Forneuses for their meat once the player has acquired the Aqua Stream (and later the Deep Sinker) shard.

Trivia[]

  • The design and attack patterns of this enemy are likely based on the Killer Fish from the Castlevania franchise.
    • An enemy also called Forneus appears in the Castlevania series, although it resembles more a giant jellyfish.
