Lubius is the second boss in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2.

Description[]

A gigantic, rotten tree has been infested by a demonic disease.
Since infecting it, the parasite demons have caused the tree to bear countless fruit. Those who have witnessed this phenomenon have likened it to the Garden of Eden.
The leader of these demons, Lubius, dwells deep within the tree, shrouded in a mysterious mist.
Those who have ventured deep enough have reported seeing different things: a beautiful woman, lost family members, and even a slender female dog.
Its true form is only said to appear during "Paradise Lost".

—Official description[1]

Taking root in a large, dead tree, Lubius is a shapeshifting demon that is shrouded in mist. It literally takes the form of a young woman lying on a weird bed-shaped structure but rarely reveals its true form, which turns out to be that of a strange fungal parasite.

Lubius floats around above the player, making it very difficult to hit with normal weapons. Occasionally, it will send out winged fruit that spawn enemies when they hit the ground. Soon after a few rounds of enemies, platforms will start to float around the arena for a bit before Lubius covers the floor in a dangerous fog. Lubius will come crashing to the ground when it is hit enough times, revealing its true form. It will them spew mist out of its mouth and spawn energy balls that will home toward the player. In the harder variant of the fight, Lubius moves slightly quicker and occasionally sends out three winged feline-type creatures that home toward the player as well.

In a last-ditch attempt to defeat the player, Lubius will revert to its true form and suck in puffs of mist from the sides of the screen, allowing it to slowly grow bigger. After a moment, Lubius will explode, leaving only the edges of the screen safe from the attack.
