A demon with a stunning, peacock-like panoply of feathers.
~ In-game description from Ritual of the Night

Andrealphus is a recurring boss featured in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon.

Description[]

A bizarre looking bipedal creature that somewhat resembles a wingless peacock, including an energy construct on his back that resembles said bird's extended feathered tail. Andrealphus's body is apparently composed of silver colored metal or polymer plaques and prosthetics that hint on him being artificially created. Neither having wings nor upper limbs, the monster mainly attacks by performing a variety of kicks, as well as by employing his high agility and natural ability to perform double jumps in battle. His trademark attack is the Illusion Dart, which consists in Andrealphus gaining a high position over his enemies and shooting a barrage of energy feathers from his tail at them.

Appearances[]

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night[]

First appearance of Andrealphus in the series, where he acts as the boss of Livre Ex Machina. His boss room is encountered a couple of rooms below O.D.'s study, so it's recommended to first pay him a visit and conduct all currently available business with him in order to increase some of Miriam's stats before the boss battle.

Andrealphus is almost assured to start the encounter by quickly rushing at Miriam and performing a kick (although not always); jump over him to evade it and counterattack from the rear to score some hits. The battle will then follow a standard hit-and-run nature as long as the boss remains at ground level; Miriam can jump on the various platforms in the room to further avoid his attacks. Andrealphus mainly uses a variety of kicks to attack, as well employing his enhanced speed and agility during battle to escape from Miriam's reach and gain an advantageous position from where he can more safely launch his ranged attacks. As such, when he starts jumping on the platforms above, it's advisable to chase him in order to have a higher chance to prevent him from performing his special attacks, or at least to see which one he's going to use and when.

Attacks
  • Performs a jumping downward-angled kick at great speed, producing energy waves as he does so.
  • Shoots a barrage of multicolored energy feathers from his tail, each directed at the player's current position. He telegraphs this move by first trying to gain a high position over the player, then curling his body to gather energy, and finally launching the feathers at great speed. Start running from one end of the room to the other as he performs this attack to make each feather miss, taking care of not getting cornered while doing so.

When defeated, Andrealphus will yield the Double Jump Skill Shard, which, as its name implies, allows Miriam to perform an additional jump while in midair, gaining with it access to the upper sections of the Towers of Twin Dragons to continue with her adventure.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon[]

Andrealphus is a peacock-shaped demon, dispatched by Gremory himself.
It lies in wait to ambush Zangetsu and his allies on the mast of a ship headed for the castle.
It attacks from the sky, capable of controlling wind, rain and lightning.
If pushed, Andrealphus will unleash all the electricity stored in its body with a final desperation attack, "Thunder Destruction". Should you quell the storm, you will see the castle on the horizon.

—Official description[1]

Andrealphus is the fifth boss in Curse of the Moon. He is a peacock-like demon who can summon storms and attacks with lightning.

According to the Curse of the Moon official website, Andrealphus was dispatched by Gremory herself to ambush Zangetsu and his allies on a mast of the ship on which Stage 5 is set.[1] Once Andrealphus is killed, the storm disappears and the protagonist(s) gain access to the castle.

Trivia[]

  • Andrealphus bears some resemblance –both physical and on his basic attack methods– to Spriggan, an enemy featured in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, although it's unknown if this was deliberate or just coincidental.
