Summon forth the Silver Knight to help you.

Familiar: Silver Knight is a Familiar Shard in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Description[]

The Silver Knight is a legless floating suit of silver armor equipped with a spear. As it levels up, gold detailing is added to the helm and chest piece.

The Silver Knight is a combat familiar with mostly offensive actions; its precise abilities depend on its current level. By default, it will float close to an enemy and unleash a flurry of downward diagonal stabs that deal minor but persistent damage; it cannot move while performing this attack, making it most effective against stationary opponents. Occasionally, it will perform a single fast horizontal slash instead - this appears to be level-dependent.

At level 25, it gains a projectile attack: it will telegraph this by raising its spear, summoning columns of light which rise from the bottom of the screen to the top and hit anything they touch. As its level increases, it will summon more columns per attack.

In addition to its offensive abilities, the Silver Knight also has a defensive ability: it can destroy enemy projectile attacks in mid-flight by twirling its spear. Any attack blocked in this manner is totally nullified, and the Silver Knight can even block some attacks the player would not consider to be projectiles, such as the Riga Storӕma-style fire columns produced by a Fire Elemental.

Availability[]

  1. Dian Cécht Cathedral: First opportunity to acquire the Silver Knight, after defeating Craftwork. Using the Craftwork Shard gained after the battle to place one of the movable statues below the ledges at the right of the arena will allow Miriam to access the top-right exit of the room, providing a Crusader's Armor and a large green torch-like Shard Stand containing the first Silver Knight Familiar Shard.
  2. Dian Cécht Cathedral: In the upper section of the Cathedral, in the open air corridor that connects the first tower (leftmost) with the second tower, hit the roof at the center to destroy it - the Silver Knight Shard Stand stands on the left ledge behind an MP Max Up.
  3. Livre Ex Machina: In a vertical room full of Maledictions, activate a pressure plate to lift the lid of the doorway and enter the room to the right. However, stepping away from this pressure plate will make the path to close again. To keep it pressed, descend to the bottom of the room, use Craftwork to pick up the nearby bookcase, head back up by stepping on the moving platforms, and place the bookcase on the pressure plate.
  4. Livre Ex Machina: The room is located on the map directly to the left of Celeste's Room; it requires a pressure plate to activate the entrance.
  5. Dian Cécht Cathedral: The upward part of the room with the bells right before Bloodless, along the eastern wall. Describing it alternatively, immediately under the entrance from the Hall of Termination. Due to the lack of platforms, it can be reached only as soon as Invert has been collected (either through Invert itself or High Jump).

Enhancements[]

Rank: More powerful familiar.

A total of five copies of the Shard are found across two areas, three in the Dian Cécht Cathedral and two in the Livre Ex Machina, meaning it can only reach Grade 9 in New Game+.

Tips on gathering materials[]

Notes[]

  • The Silver Knight is unique in that it is the only Familiar which is not encountered as an enemy. As a result, additional copies of the shard can only be obtained by finding and destroying Shard Stands located in specific areas of the map, which makes raising its "Grade" a bit more complicated. Accessing these areas does not require the use of Invert or High Jump, though they are rewards for small challenges which require the Double Jump and Reflector Ray abilities.
  • Silver Knight is also unique in the fact that it is the only Familiar Shard that cannot be sold (including all DLC Familiar Shards).

Trivia[]

  • The Silver Knight will also destroy any chairs the player comes across. If the player sits in a chair before he destroys it, its attacks will damage them as it tries to hit the chair.
  • The Silver Knight was the winner of a poll during development in which several possible Familiar designs were presented to voters, each based on a keyword; the Silver Knight's was "Cool".
