Summon forth Dulla Head to help you.

Familiar: Dullahammer Head is a Familiar Shard in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Description[]

Summons a Dullahammer Head that will float around Miriam and occasionally fly toward an enemy and attack it. Every odd numbered shard will summon another head:

  • 3 shards = 2 Dullahammer Heads
  • 5 shards = 3 Dullahammer Heads
  • 7 shards = 4 Dullahammer Heads
  • 9 shards = 5 Dullahammer Heads

The heads will attack any enemy on screen. At a high number of heads, they will continually swoop in, attack, and return. They are very good at handling small, mobile enemies like Elementals or, ironically, fellow Dullahammer Heads.

While these familiars are very effective at keeping enemies at bay, they also have some minor drawbacks. For example, they will often target and alert distant enemies that could otherwise have been ignored. Also, they will often push back enemies out of the player's reach, and often not kill them due to their low damage output, or even push them to a safe spot and allowing them to fight back.

Tips on gathering materials[]

Aurora Mode[]

In Aurora's campaign, Tristis provides this Shard through the curse that has transformed him into a Dullahammer Head. He can be enhanced using Sapphires. On Hard difficulty, Tristis can be found as early as the Galleon Minerva, meaning that he will likely be the first Shard that Aurora finds (after her starting Familiar Igniculus). After defeating the first Dullahammer Head, each enemy that drops Sapphires has a chance to relinquish a Tristis Shard, although only once per type; these demons are Dullahammer, Malediction, Killer Barber, Poltergeist, Assassin, Ninja, the Harrier, and the Revenant. The Harrier in particular, due to requiring to beat him in a race, with only a chance for the shard to appear afterward, may require a few attempts. Achieving maximum Grade and maximum Rank for all shards, including the Tristis shards, is necessary to obtain 100% completion with Aurora.

Trivia[]

  • The behavior of this familiar is likely inspired by the Bat Familiar from the Castlevania series; specifically on its portrayal in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Similarities include spawning more entities as the familiar levels up, up until they reach five individuals, which follow the protagonist around and then launch themselves toward enemies when they detect them.
