Familiar: Bu-chan is a Familiar Shard in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It is part of the paid DLC "Magical Girl Cosmetic Pack", available from Update v.1.5.
Description[]
Once in possession of the Double Jump shard and with Bu-chan summoned, Miriam can double jump and then jump kick Bu-chan to bounce off of it. This can be used for some sequence-breaking, to reach certain high ledges sooner than when they were normally intended to. Miriam can keep jump-kicking Bu-chan to launch herself further up and technically reach very high ledges this way, although this is almost impossible to achieve after a couple of attempts, as the familiar quickly bounces away when kicked.
Availability[]
- Galleon Minerva: Already included within the player's inventory from the beginning.[1]
Enhancements[]
Rank: More powerful familiar.
- Rank 2, 3, 4 (Leonine Pelt ×1)
- Rank 5, 6, 7 (Leonine Pelt ×1, Monster Bird Hair ×1)
- Rank 8, 9 (Lion Lord's Mane ×1, Sapphire ×2)
Tips on gathering materials[]
- Leonine Pelt: Dropped from Buer (10%) in Dian Cécht Cathedral and Forbidden Underground Waterway.
- Monster Bird Tear: Drops from Aello (8%) in Galleon Minerva. Much later drops from Ocypete (15%) in upper Dian Cécht Cathedral.
- Lion Lord's Mane: Drops from Marbas (5%) in the Den of Behemoths near the end of the game.
- Sapphire: Drops from Shovel Armor (5%) throughout Forbidden Underground Waterway, then Ice Elemental (12%) at the Glacial Tomb at the end of the game. Found in blue chests in early Forbidden Underground Waterway, early Livre Ex Machina, and Towers of Twin Dragons.
Notes[]
- If Familiar: Bu-chan is sold at the supply post (500G), another copy of it will be automatically given to the player the next time they continue the game. The process can then be repeated to obtain as much Gold as desired. This possibly is due to an scripting error, as Familiar: Bu-chan is the only one of all the free items that were included in Update v.1.5 that can be sold; or it could even be intentional by the developers to encourage players to attempt sequence-breaking in the game.

Trivia[]
- Familiar: Bu-chan is a reskin of Familiar: Buer, and thus behaves and can be used in an identical manner.
