Extra Mode is a feature in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night that lets the player play alternate versions of the game. These modes often have different mechanics and objectives from the main game, and can usually be played with characters not available in it, who oftentimes are support characters or enemies from the main game, or even guest crossover characters from other franchises. Levels within an Extra Mode are usually made by reusing parts of the environments and other assets from the main game.
The existence of Extra Modes is generally to add replayability to the overall product and to lengthen its longevity, as well as to provide gameplay modes where more than one player can play, and also to advertise other franchises the player might be interested in.
List of Extra Modes[]

Trivia[]
- Alternate Modes are a staple in the Castlevania series. While early titles usually only offered higher difficulty extra modes, more recent titles –mainly those which follow a "metroidvania" style design– often offer a number of extra modes that are usually unlocked after completing the game under specific conditions. These modes usually include playing the game with characters met during the main story (either allies or rivals), a Boss Rush Mode, as well as others, similar to those Extra Modes found in Ritual of the Night.
