Entrance is a location in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Progression[]
When you begin your "main quest" through the game by traveling east from Arvantville, you will enter the Entrance's southwest corner and be taken along a mostly linear route east along its ground level, where you will soon take its southeast red doorway into the Garden of Silence. That zone will fairly quickly force you back into the Entrance zone through a red doorway two screens above the previous one. As you head west along the top portion of the 2×4 stair-filled screen that makes up the Entrance zone's southeast region, if you fall into the gap, you can collect Lethal Boots and a blue chest, but you will have to drop back down and take the Garden of Silence again to make it back up to the top.
Just out of the northwest corner of the 2×4 stair room is a 2×2 room containing the Fine Healing Item/R in a green chest, a save room just right of that, and a warp room at its southwest corner; if you discovered the warp room near the villager hub in Arvantville, this warp room can be useful for preparing yourself for the boss battle with Zangetsu just past the 2×2 room's upper-left door. From there, the route further west brings you through a red door into the Dian Cécht Cathedral.
The Dian Cécht Cathedral zone, situated above the Entrance, connects back to the Entrance at two other points from above. Early on, you can take the Cathedral's far west exit to make it to the above-midpoint of the Entrance's extremely tall opening chamber, where you can jump a gap to get your first Shortcut shard. Be warned that falling through the gap all the way back to the bottom is a one-way trip. Later, shortly before the Craftwork boss northeast of the Entrance zone, you can take an optional route back southwest to return to the Entrance zone, where there are some rooms with blue chests and the hidden Santa Hat (which offers a useful +3 LCK boost). The hallway leading back west will bring you to an earlier-visited chamber where there is an object that will prevent you from going back to the Cathedral in that direction, unless you have already beaten Craftwork for the Craftwork shard that lets you move that object out of the way.
The Entrance zone also connects to the Forbidden Underground Waterway at two points, one becoming relevant way earlier than the other. When you are able to explore the waterway's "east half" early in the game, going out through that half's northwest door will deposit you back at the 2×4 stair room, on the other side of the locked-off southeast corner where you can pick up a previously visible HP Max Up. Flipping the lever here permanently opens up that door to allow for easier access to the Waterway.
Once you get the Double Jump skill shard from the Andrealphus boss in early Livre Ex Machina, it becomes possible to return to the "Sabnock chamber" in the Entrance zone and use the Double Jump's kick attack to rebound off a flying Aello to pass through a hole in the ceiling, giving you access to rooms full of treasures and advanced enemies. Double Jumping off the Cyhyraeth you find here brings you to a room with, among other things, the very useful Meat Dish/R recipe book.
Much later in the game, when you have defeated the Bloodless boss in the upper reaches of the Cathedral zone, you need to return to the blood fountain in the 3×2 chamber and cast Blood Steal to remove the blood pool, letting you drop into the "west half" of the Forbidden Underground Waterway.
Very late in the game, when you have found the Aegis Plate in the boss area of the Towers of Twin Dragons with the help of the Invert shard, you must return to the super-tall opening chamber of the Entrance and use a combination of the Aegis Plate, Invert, and Craftwork to get past the spiked obstacles above. On top of finding the Crow Hat in a green chest, you will reach the Oriental Sorcery Lab zone.

In Zangetsu's and Aurora's campaigns, the blood fountain in the Entrance is already drained as they lack an equivalent to the Blood Steal. However, Aurora still needs to defeat Valac first in order to pass explore the Forbidden Underground Waterway fully. The spikes in the way to the Oriental Sorcery Lab are removed for Zangetsu and Bloodless, but not for Aurora. Where Miriam found a Shard stand for Shortcut, Aurora instead finds a Shard stand for Igniculus.
Bloodless Mode[]
For Bloodless, the Entrance mostly serves as a junction point despite its large size. There are no major upgrades here and few items overall.

Trivia[]
- This stage is a direct reference to the classic Castle Entrance levels from the Castlevania series, largely reproducing their usual architecture and structural layouts.
References[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The player first briefly explores the Garden of Silence, but their path is soon hindered by an obstacle blocking a long chasm which the Coachman can't jump across, preventing them from exploring most of the level, so they are forced to return to the Entrance (fighting the second boss of the game along the way) and take a detour through the Dian Cécht Cathedral.
