Usable only by speaking to Johannes. Emerald is one of the Materials required for crafting:

Emerald can be used to enhance the following shards:

Gold-making trick[]

Emeralds, like Rubies and Sapphires, sell for 240G and start adding themselves to your inventory as early as when you can open blue chests in the eastern, earlier part of Forbidden Underground Waterway. However, all three gems can effectively be sold for 1,000G instead by freely converting them into shards beforehand; the ability to convert a gemstone into a shard is unlocked while you hold a specific, similar shard dropped by an enemy.

For the Emerald, the Celaenos flying in the later portions of Towers of Twin Dragons drop the Teps Oceus shard. This unlocks the ability to convert Emeralds into Teps Salrenda shards that sell for 1,000G. Note that, because Celaenos only appear in a part of the map that requires Double Jump to reach, converting Emeralds into Teps Salrenda shards is unlocked a little later in the game, whereas the enemies that enable converting the other two gemstones into their respective shards are already accessible as soon as you start finding gemstones in blue chests.

Aurora Mode[]

Aurora can use Emeralds to enhance Finn. They and Finn himself are dropped by the following demons: Dantalion, Aello, Celaeno, Ocypete, Light Elemental, Dark Elemental, Thunder Elemental, Fire Elemental, and Ice Elemental.
